OK, I'm getting ready to plan the paint on the Apollo. I'm going with a light color to be more forgiving with body imperfections. My first thought is a light yellow.

What shades does anybody have suggestions of and do you have a paint code/swatch jpg you can post/link to...

Can't go wrong with the Apollo white. How many colors were there for these cars?

I'm not sure how many colors they came in. Mine was initially a cream color and I have seen brown and green.

Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like is your guys preference, but I really can't talk myself out of yellow. I'm not much particular if it's a GM color or not, but want a fairly light yellow...almost thought of the the yellow they painted the newer GTO but can't find the name.

If you've got alot of body work, then I also vote for white.

Our '74 Omega was gold. It was resprayed a darker shade at some point, but the original gold was fairly light. Might be something worth looking for. Not sure the color code at the moment.

one thing you want to watch out for with the modern day bright yellows is that they get grouped in with the reds in pricing. you would be suprised what yellow could cost you and in some brands it doesnt cover worth a crap. i would say use a white sealer on the car before you paint it yellow to help the yellow cover easier. plus its a little cheap insurance for bleed through. if you stay with the more pale yellows they will more then likely be cheaper. just my 2 cents:TU:

Ours was "Omega Gold Poly" 2649

You seem to be more interested insomething like "Omega Maize" 2677 That same code 2677 is used on almost all the makes but has a different name for each. For Buick it's called "Canary Yellow"

Apollo yellow is a Cadillac color and is coded 2651. That means no Apollos came painted Apollo yellow :Dou:

If you get a '73 color sample than the "Apollo Yellow" is code 2533 and is correct for Buick

    Keith,

My buddy had a 70 Cutlass that was called butternut I think. Had a black vinyl top. I thought that color looked sharp on that car.

There's a yellow Apollo on the board for sale right now if you want to know what it'll look like. Not bad. :TU:

TODD'S 67 Time for another Buick!

I wouldn't go yellow, but I've never liked yellow cars. My 67 Skylark had some bad body work done to it and was painted aquamarine, that's a lighter color I think. Well, u could still notice that the car wasn't straight, that's why it's getting redone. I would focus on getting the car straight if u want it to look great, then the color won't matter as much.
