    Hey Guys.What sizes of slicks/rims are you using?? I have a used set of M/T ET Drags(26/8.5/15)on 15x6 steels.I think they are a bit small.I was considering going with a (26/10/15) on a 15x8 steel. Thanks.Later,Tony.

i would think that you can fit at least a 28 or 29 tire under that car....

Hey Eric.Thanks.I agree with that.I have a 3.42 gear and I was thinking a taller tire might cut into my final ratio as opposed to a 3.73 for example :Do No: Later,Tony.

On my '70 I ran a 15x8 weld wheel w/4.5 inch backspace and at different times the slicks I ran were 30x9, 29x11, and 28.5x10.5 . That was with 4.10 gears. If you are running a lot less gear than that, you'd probably want less tire height , maybe 27 inches, maybe 26. Certainly a 27x10 or a 26x10 would fit, it's just a matter of combining the right gear ratio with the right tire height. I ran the 26x10s with 3.31 gears and that worked quite well. On my T/R I usually ran 27x10s with the 3.42s, wich also worked quite well. Good Luck! :TU:

    Hey Doug.Thanks a lot.I like the 26,27x10 on 15x8`s idea with my 3.42`s :TU: Later,Tony.

On my 71 GS455 I was runing a 26" tall Hoosier Quick Time Pro (DOT) with 3.42 gears. This was a mid 13 second car (best of 13.43) with mph in the 99-100 range.

I run an ET Drag 26x10x15 on a 15x8 rim with 4.5" backspacing. No problems at all. And I have a 3.73 gear out back.

    Tony,

I run the M/T 28 x 10.5 stiff sidewall slicks on my 72 GS. I have an 8.5" wheel with 5" backspacing. No problems, fits real nice.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but....

Another Question: Isn't it common for people to NOT use tubes in their Slicks these days? I have a set on the way and just wanted to clarify.

I had a set of 10X15 made fron Wheel Vistices (SP). They fit pretty good now but would be even better with 27 or taller stiffwall slicks. The bad part is I got the 5 inch offset, but you need the 5.5 inch offset. With the 5 inch offset I am pretty much stuck with one size of street tire. It is the Mickey Thomson Sportsman pro 26 X 15 (which is a great street tire).

I personally have tubes in my slicks. But the rims I bought were already drilled for the screws, so it wa no big deal. Gary Kubish's car runs mid-9's and he doesn't use them.

My slicks also have tubes/screws..seems like mixed opinions on this one :Do No: Later,Tony.

I run Hoosier QTP 26 x 9.5 on 15 x 8 Specialty Wheels(?) sport wheels. 3.42 gear. Tire height/gear ratio is just right for my 5000rpm motor. No tubes, 17psi. The wheels have the stock offset with all the additional width on the outside. I don't care for that, but they still fit fine (I bought them second hand).

I thought I had read that alot of people were running Slicks without Tubes.

Just wanted some feedback before I get mine and have them mounted. :TU:

Even on the 15x14 wheels and 33x14.5 tires that I run on my '65, I've run'em with tubes and without. It's no big deal either way, it's just handy to be able to shove a tube in if I have a slick go flat. It happens from time to time.
