Haha I'm sorry Brian. Anyways, I just pulled that sucker out and I attempted to take it apart, but it's kinda "glued" together so, that didn't happen. However, I filled it up with carb cleaner and stuck a screwdriver down the bowl vent and the float functioned beautifully, so you'll alredy be in better shape than your current Q-Jet.

    PM me with your address.:beers2:

So i got home to find Cason's carb rebuilt by John Osborne on my front step. :Brow:

Put Cason's carb on my engine (my carb wasn't tight at all btw...) and went to put in the main fuel inlet. My carb inlet wouldnt tighten, just kept screwing and i could tell by looking that the threads were stripped inside the carb inlet. For example, when i push in my fitting into my carb, it goes in about 1 thread then i have to start twisting it in. On Cason's, it would go in almost all the way before grabbing at all.

So I called up Cason and he said they were like that when he got it and he had to use a self tapping carb fitting on it and that worked great for him. Well i called around and NO ONE had one around here. Cason could only find it at Oreilly online. The only problem is there are NO Orielly's around here, closest one about an hour away. After checking all possible options i decided to order from Oreilly online. Scheduled to arrive next tuesday :puzzled:

But i still found it cool that Oreilly ships, unlike Autozone and Advance.

Why didnt you call a buddy up and tell him youd pay for his gas and buy him dinner if he drove you the 1 hr to OReillys, that way you could get what you needed tonight instead of having to wait until next week...

I doubt that Oreilly's would have had it in stock either. Special order only.

I'm sorry about that Brian, hopefully you've satisfied all the problem gods.:beers2:

My Auto parts store might have been able to get one easily. I'm not sure how, but that's who helped me find that part.

Yea, im still alive just been real busy starting summer college and work. But i tried your carb and it showed the same symptoms. Also when the car starts to die, when i gave it more gas it would backfire through the carb, like a little flame and hissing/pop noise. My grandpa, a ford guy, has been rebuilding mustangs all his life and he wanted to take a look at it last week while he was down for my graduation. He said that the white smoke had to be a coolant/water leak and after telling him all that i'd done to it, he immediately suspected the intake. So we took the intake off a few days ago and he thinks he found the problem. The rear driver side water port had plenty of goop on it, but the bottom of the intake wasn't cleaned of oil etc. So the RTV didnt stick between the intake and top of the valley pan. Around all the ports but that one was dry. That port had what looked like water/wetness around it, leaking coolant into the engine. SO, he said i should clean the intake again of all contaminants and reseal again. So im taking the intake to the machine shop to be completely cleaned like new in a few minutes. Then cleaning off my valley pan to reuse, and hopepully sealing it back up, for about the 4th or 5th time :af:

Wasnt sure if anyone was still interested. The intake was beautiful and completely cleaned inside and out with new freeze plugs and a new water fitting. Painted it all up installed it properly with all the sealants etc. Filled the radiator just yesterday after is all back together. Water started coming out of the right water neck bolt. So I drained it back down, let the hole and the bolt dry. Then sealed it back with water neck sealant. Gunna try and start it later

Ok so i got it running again but not long enough to check much out. Cuz the stupid fuel line from the Parts Place isn't a good enough fit. Ive taken it out and reinstalled 3 times all with the same result, where it goes into the bottom of the fuel pump it leaks gas. Ive tried tightening one side then the other and vice versa. When the line is in the fuel pump, it is way off from the carb inlet, like 2 inches to the left. So i actually have to pull the line sideways and down to get it to line with the hole. This creats a bad angle on the bottom of the fuel pump, letting gas leak. The YearOne fuel line wasnt a direct fit either, but it was closer than this one.

Can I use a braided fuel line on my Q-jet? Like such:
