Alright, my old th-300 went out on me so now i'm getting a sp-400. Now my question is, after putting a new transmission in, what should I do next? I'm looking at about spending about $1,000, maybe $1,500 if the extra $500 is really worth it. I have a sixty-nine 4 door skylark, with a 4-bbl 350 in it. Other than this transmission nothing else has ever been done to it, other than new plugs, wire, filters, oil, lubes, points, ect. It has 122,000 miles on it. Now the interior needs alot of work, and the exterior could use some good paint but I'm going to get that all done later in the year. I'm also leaving all the supension alone for right now to. I'm replacing it all when I get out of basic. Anyways, with that many miles sould I go with just a rebuild and maybe new gears in the rear? Or should I go with say a new cam, intake, headers, and exhaust pipes? What do you all think? Thanks in advance.

Do you have orders before you go to basic on your duty station. If you don't and your assigned overseas you may want to do your suspension as they are pretty rough on the inspections over there. Thats if you intend to take your car:TU:

Nope don't have any orders. Right now I'm in Marine DEP. July 10 I'll head over to Parris Island. After that I'll get my orders.

Well, you're certainly going to South Carolina at the PERFECT time of year! Just remember this: NO MATTER WHAT, DON'T SCRATCH THE SAND FLEAS!!
By the way, pretty sure your ultimate destination has already been decided..(Hint: begins with I ends with Q, four letters... I__Q)...also pretty sure the heavy action will be over by the time you get there. Stand by, IRAN.
As far as your Buick, wait til you see all the nice metal down South!(After Boot camp of course) Good stuff for short change. Might want to think about that.
In the meantime, let me be the first to say "Thank you, Marine."
