Hey all, Years ago when I was collecting parts for the rebirth of my '71 GS, I picked up a repairable core support for a decent price. Now that years have gone by I was wondering if its cost effective to repair the core support or just pick up the one like this on Ebay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/70-72-Skyla...Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aee21a072&vxp=mtr The car is not a numbers car. So just weighing the options of just buying one and seeing if anyone is interested in an original for a resto. Or just fix the one I have with the available patch panels on the market and roll on. Are the factory core supports still a desired item to anyone?
I went with the AMD. Very nice part if your not doing a concours restore! It fit perfect on my 71. My old core support had issues around the battery and both mounts so it was not a hard decision for me.
For the same price as the AMD repro core support unit, I have a GM NOS core support for the 71-2 for sale. It will also bolt up to a 70. I recall the AMD unit is made to look like a 70 and not the 71-2.
There is a real nice original one thats listed on evil-bay as having been sand blasted and has green epoxy on it for 299 plus shipping might be the way to go.
