    Hi all.
I am trying to figure out what this car was ...
Saw the most awsom car yesterday, I have no ideah what it was but I want one! Have never seen anything like it before, all I know is it had GTO on the gril.
I have described it to several people and all we can come up with is a Buick LeMans. I am trying to find a picture and/or find out if a Buick LeMans GTO even exists. Any one know of where I can go to find pictures of Buicks? As in every car ever made. Have looked through Hemmings Motor News - no help.
I really need a nother car, only have 6 :)
    Kate

PS - sorry for the spelling

Ok. Folks, time for pics! Hope the bandwidth can stand it! :Dou:

    Hi Kate.

By the way, Pontiac made the LeMans and the GTO, which is a LeMans with more "stuff".

Buick made the "GS" or Gran Sport.

Was the body square or more rounded in the rear? This will help determine year of make, and help us focus our "search! :Brow:

As far as Buicks go, you are in the right place. You will also find that there are a ton of people on this board into ALL MAKES of musclecars, not just Buicks. You are inclined to receive more info than you could ever handle by posting a question here. :)

    Ok, I'm all talked out.

    Kate,

Could the grille have said GSX and not GTO?

It was not a Pontiac that much I do know. The car I saw looks somewhat like the yellow car, the grill is close. Have a shot with the hood down?
I am the muscle and driver part of our car operation. The guys give me the breaker bar and say "take the bolts off," or "heres the bolts, put this thing on over there." I know just enough about how cars work to put my foot in my mouth - thus I stick to the heavy lifting and driving. I am also in charge of acquisitions, both cars and parts. The guys just suck at bickering over prices.

Said mystery car - Had a very "thick" front end (cowl hood?), 2 oblong openings (nostrils right ?) on the end above the grill, 2 door, fairly rounded. Looked muscular, almost mean. Gave the very defiant impression of power. Like I said I have never seen a car like this before. I am beginning to wonder if it is some kind if kit car or a conglomeration of parts.

    Or an early Firebird Formula.

The 72 GTO came with a twin nostril hood of sorts, right?

Yeah, but they were set back like the Buick's I think. your right about the Firebirds being a possibility to.

EDIT: Yep the 72's had scoupes farther up front like the Firebirds. (hey... I never claimed to be anything but a Buick guy...lol)

Where can I go to find pictures of these cars? AOL is slow as s***, and this computer has "issues" so long story short doing a search takes a hell of a long time. (Would be kinda cool to have a second firebird. Will have the title for the 84 trans AM by Friday.) I found that one for $600, runs/drives, in grate shape and best of all it has a manual!!! God I hate automatics. I am probably the only person in the world who is freaked out by driving an automatic.

    Hi Kate,

Welcome to our Buick community. As a moderator I'd just like to point out that we would like posts to contain very little curse words. We are promoting a site that enthusiasts from age 11 to 91 can enjoy, and we promote a nice friendly environment.

Dang, heck and darn would do nicely to get your point across, as would "slow as molassas".

Thanks for understanding and we look forward to all the input and questions you can bring to the table.
