What would you do? 350 or 455

I have a number matching 70 350GS good driver with a/c. I have came across a 455 SF block with stage one heads. And I wonder if I should stay with the 350 or go to the 455. I can't make up my mind, I would like to have a high 12 sec. car. Also have 3.73 and a 2004R to put in this winter. Is there any one with a 350, 200r4, and 3.73's out there with good 1/4 mile times. If so whats the 350 combo?

    Thanks
    Vic

    13.4 so far

We have taken a '72 mild (427hp on eng. dyno) 455 with a 200-4r and 3.73 rear posi to 13.4 so far this year. Just installed a 3" mandrel bent w-pipe system and have a new shift governor ready to install by the weekend. Sam Davis has a 70 GS455 with a 200-4r and 3.42 posi that turns 12.5 all day long with many trips quicker than that. To do this with a 350 will cost just as much as with the 455, if not more. Also, these are not stock 200 transmissions by any means. Sam's was done by (the real) Art Carr and the '72 sports one built by PAE. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Skip,

I know there are a lot of updates to the 200r4 to make them handle any hp at all. Just wondering what other people are running.

    Thanks again

    350 or 455

Vic, I've in the past owned only small block Buicks and bought my first big block and think I like the small block as far as reliablity but there is no comparing the torque of a 455. If you want some input on the possabilities of a 350 e-mail "tubbed" on the V8 Buick Board his name is Rob. Good Luck IDOXLR8 :beer
