Hello....I am new here and have browsed this forum for a few weeks and a lot of good info! So I joined this forum because I am thinking of buying a 67 Riviera but not sure if its worth it. Here are the details...

Paint and body are a 9/10. Nice paint job and clean straight body. 2 yr old paint.
Some chrome pieces need a little re chroming
Engine is not #s matching. In fact its a 455. Runs and sounds great
Trunk is just bare metal and very little rust. Needs to be carpeted. No rust else where
Interior is 8/10. dash and panels are all very good if not excellent. Seats are a tad bit worn..not much. Just mainly the rear seat. No rips.
All electrical/dashes work. Manual window raisers.
AC intact but does not work
Has 2 inch lowered springs in front and working air ride system in rear
brand new tires and rims. Not original but look nice!
Odometer reads 45,000. Not sure if actual
    Flowmasters HP2 mufflers
    Edelbrock intake
    Holly double pump carb
    HEI distributor
New brakes all around. Disc brakes all around
2.5 inch exhaust with Mandril bends

What would you guys pay for a car like this? Honestly. Would like your help!

Yes its in Central Coast Cali. I still have not gone to look at it since I am a 2.5 hr drive away but trying to determine if its a good deal. Have you gone to see it?

They did not offer the 455 in 67.....but thats what it has in it.

Please put your name in your signature, we are all here on a friendly first name base :TU:

    That's a good thing :bglasses:

It's up to you what you want to pay, but with all the new goodies, modifications and the new paint, I don't think that US$ 7000 is too much.
And..... it's an asking price :Smarty:
If I was the seller, I would put more information in the advertisement about all the stuff that was done to the car.

I also saw that car on Craigslist a few days ago, here's a screenshot of the page, not a really good description:

It's a sharp looking car, that's for sure. If it doesn't have any hidden problems that'll cost you big money later (engine, bodywork) then what else could you buy that cool for the price of a used car?

Maybe a used car for the price of a used car, something like the used car above :Do No: ?

    I was thinking about $5,000.
Sounds like it has been monkeyed around with quite a bit, and depending on the quality of the work there could be gremlins.
    Manual windows, AC doesn't work.
It is a good looking car. I would inspect it closely.

Best thing for him is to go over there and look at the car.
If the paint, the driveline and the engine are okay, I still think US$ 7000 is a good asking price with the air ride, the new disc brakes and the after market new rims + tyres.:TU:

I agree. Got to start the negotiation somewhere.

If the work was done well, body and paint is nice, $7k is a steal.

Yeah, 7K is a good price for all the mods. Id have to pay more than that to add air ride and disk brakes to my car.

Does the non matching #s make it lose a lot of value? Is the 455 engine that is in there a good engine? What are "riviera" things that I should look at if I go see it and would it cost a lot to get AC to work?

We are trying to buy a retirement "project" for my dad....its between a Rivera and Ford Torino convertible. He really wants a Torino (what he had when young) but nothing good so far....so we were thinking of getting this and if a "perfect" torino pops, up resell this....so want to make sure we can at least get out money back.

Gotta make the dad happy for all his hard work :)

Sorry if the 'price of a used car' statement was puzzling. What I meant was this: when you look at its value as a collector car, it may or may not be 'worth it' depending upon both the tangible variables of the car itself and the whims of the buyers and sellers who make up the market. But--compare it to the cost, expenses, and depreciation involved with a modern used transport appliance in the same price range, it looks like a solid bet.

When you are in the $7000 world, the engine being a Buick 455 isn't too big of a deal, especially with the other mods.

The value of these cars is still too low, but if it's tight, and you want air-ride, check it out. If you want a modded car, air-ride can be a nice addition for sure. It probably won't last very long if it's a good car.
