Just ran across 1970 Electra 455 complete with tranny, carb, brackets, air conditioner. Supposedly 70,000 on it. Wants $500 and I am thinking of offering $400. Does that seem like a good deal?
It's a good deal if it turns over. Pull the plugs, bring a 1 1/8 socket, a breaker bar, and 6" extension and try to turn it over. I'd squirt a little lube in the cylinders first. I just got a '70 SF with 70,000. It had about 5 gallons of water in it when I got it. Good thing I didn't try to start it.ou: That motor ('70) has a good set of heads to start. It just needs the oil passage modifications. Buy it and you'll be glad you did later.
Buy it!! That's a pretty good deal. I wouldn't pass that one up. I've bought two of my motors that way. I bought a 70 Riv for $500 about 5 years ago with 35,000 (wasn't that good a buy; head and piston was cracked, probably hydrolocked at one time, and it need decked and bored, tranny needed to be rebuilt too). I also bought a 76 electra 2 door with 50,000 for $500. Both of these cars ran. The Riv drove up on the trailer and I drove the Electra for a few months.
