    Voltage regulator!

Had this exact thing happen on my LeSabre for a number of months...and I started hearing this clicking in the firewall...sounded like a relay opening and closing.

Decided to swap the voltage regulator, and never had another problem with the radio with poltergeist...

    Here's my old setup.

The voltage regulator is a black square metal relay-like item on your firewall in the engine compartment. Parts stores should carry them in stock - about $10-15 I think....

Unless the 67 Riv is special. I don't think it's any different than the others though.

Here is a picture of my firewall with the green arrow pointing to the voltage regulator. The one on my car is silver, but the stock one should be black.

ok, im a logical and methodical thinker, so humor me for a few, say that the voltage regulator is good, what else could be the problem?

    PROBABLY A GROUND

In my experience with stereos and what not its always been a ground problem, not to say your voltage reg Adam wasn't the cure just seems odd, The last install I did I had a ground problem, drivin along and the radio would quit, spit the cd out, hit
another bump and come back on only to have lost its memory.

A good Method I have found is to use a test light, real cheap form walmart, little plastic job with a bulb, and a pointed end, (be careful those darn things are sharp too) Anyway.hok the lead up to hot, touch the spot where ou want to ground. If this is a good spot, the light comes on thus completing the circuit.

Dunno thats the way us hillbillies do it. Hey post some pics of your Riv I just got rid of mine Kinda miss the old girl but whattya gonna do.

    ahhh kenwood

well Gents, i contacted Kenwood, the maker of such a fine cd player:moonu:, and they stated that they were having dificulties with the model of cd player/tuner that i have, the problem is that the motor that drives the thing to flip over or to turn on its side some how gets messed up, and the whole device "belives" it is in the correct position, so you must disconnect the whole damn thing, 10 seconds, and connect it back, 10 seconds, in order to "reset" the damn thing!!! :af: so all in all, its not my car, its not my wiring, its no the ground, its the damn circutry in the radio...... damn kenwood....

    Rats

I have only had one Kenwood in my life, It actually did pretty good but towards the end it really started acting up so it got trashed. This was an old kenwoood cd player that was purchased in like 1992, Worked up until last December when I broke down and bought a good open box special on a JVC Mp3/CD/AM FM Player at circuit city.

Just my thoughts. Hope you get it under control. Lets see some pics of the beast.

Nice Rivi! I'm waiting to post my picture for the same reason (not the girl thing the "getting the ride nice thing"). I joined a couple of months ago and it's great to see, and listen to all the enthusiasm and knowledge of buicks and car products in general. Enjoy!:TU:
