Its a 55 Buick Special, doesnt run yet, I think all it needs is the points replaced. It does have rust, but it can be saved. Interior looks like it was re done sometime in the 80s maybe. It needs a good cleaning, but isnt too bad. I dunno what else. Anyone have any iseas on what its worth?

I have followed the 55's on ebay looking for a 55 Century 4 door hdtp ( RIVIERA) and in your condition, bids are in the $500 to $700 range. I'm not saying that they sell for that amount, but thats what the buyers are bidding.

I've kinda watched 55's and I would have to agree with bill. They are nat going for very much. 2dr ht are usually what most people will spend the money on (in my opinion).

55 & 56 great years for the Special. If it's a project car then it should be a project price. Straight body with no parts missing and not alot of rust. Check the suspension rubber and movability. Pitting in the grille and other chrome. How long since it's been driven? etc. These things will all make a difference. I'll tell you what, the fact that the guy didn't bother to get the snow off before taking the pictures says he may just give it to you for free..lol

What do you imagine as a finished project? Driver? Show Queen? a little of both? How capable are you in the do it yourself department?

I can tell you the auto shop teacher at the high school across from my house has a 56 in grade 2 condition (just short of being able to eat off the under body.) He has had a for sale sign in the window for 2 years at 10,000. He could get 8 for it today but he aint budging...good for him.

Put it this way. If you can get the car for 700 or so. Put in 3k resto 3k paint. Even another grand in tires and tunes, your around 8 in, you can easily get 7 or 8 back maybe more in a few more years after driving it around a while.

Hope some of this helps..good luck. :beer

    skitzofrenic66 What's an Import?

id tell him youve got $500 in your pocket and can have a tow truck on the way :Brow: if he doesnt go for it ask him how much he feels it should go for. i would personally go as high as $1000-1500 based on pictures alone. but in your defence tell him its not a very popular car, tell him buicks dont sell real well and arent really desired. tell him the ones that do sell frequent are the 2 door centuries. let him know he doesnt have a real gem on his hands.

some people need a smack like that to realize its not a 70 gsx! take a look at that pitted chrome and dents/white paint on the pass side?? use all that against him and go as cheap as you can! good lcuk man, keep us posted!!

The car I saw isn't a 4dr ht riviera it's a 4dr sedan worth about half what a hard top is worth.

Lol, guess I shoulda mentioned...this is already my car. I want to sell it. Im looking to get either another F body or Muscle Car(Id love to get a GS). I only bought the thing maybe two months ago, I got a pretty good deal on it. Do you think I could get $1000 for it locally in current condition? If not, I may just replace the points because I think thats all it needs to get running, then ask a little more than $1000.

Think I can get $1000? :Do No:
