I'm just wondering what's the best way to store a crank long-term to ensure it doesn't rust?

i use a heavy lithium grease out of a aerosol can. coat it up heavy wrap it up in a heavy black contractor trash bag. wrap a couple old towels around it with duct tape{just in case} and one more heavy contractor bag. then store standing up {not sure if thats a old wives?}. that baby will be ready for long storage.
