I was wondering if anybody could tell me if a bench seat car is worth less than a car that came with bucket seats. I'm specifically talking about a 70 GS Stage 1. Thanks for the info. Brian
My opinion is that the interior code is negligible. If it's a true stage1, I believe it's value would be most affected by... - overall condition - matching #'s drivetrain - transmission type (4-speed over auto) - A/C PS - I wouldn't trade my split bench for buckets. I've had both and I prefer the notch back bench seat. Buckets look cool, but a split bench feels most comfortable to me (and I drive my GS). :TU: :beer EDIT - Brian - after rereading your post, are you stating that the car originally came with bucket seats and someone replaced it with bench? If so, I believe it would effect the value according to the cost of putting buckets back in again.
I'd say.... NOT much of a factor at all, maybe 30th or less on my list. I have a bench in my 71 stage 1 conv, wish I had the notchback style bench, and buckets would be the least desired by me. However, whichever seat were there would not affect my buying decision (even if no seats were there at all), about as important as the color of your carpet.
Brian, To me there is a difference. Buckets and console cars always seem to bring more money. Bench seat reminds people of full size cars. Cost to convert to buckets and console, including changing column, recover seats, new seat foams, floor brkts, welding, trans brkts, etc will easily run $1000-1200. Dan, If you are serious about a fold down armrest seat, email me directly at GStage1@buickperformance.com I may have a lead on one soon!
Alan, 70-2 cars have PRNDL unless they are a 4 spd. Bench and bucket seat cars w/auto got the same speedo. Take that smarty pants! :TU:
