whats the right way to install distributor

    You can put the distributor in the engine in different positions, and you can also turn the base of it, so that image is just an indication of the right firing order :TU:
    The number 1 cylinder terminal can be at any position you like.

    just curious why would you want set #1 at different position then where it supposed to be. #1 is the first wire left of window on the cap. thats were it supposed to be on a correctly set up motor.

    That's something different, in this post you were making a comment on the photo of the thread starter:

    Maybe because he didn't know about that image, and did every 350 Buick engine that came out of the factory had the number 1 terminal exactly at that position ?

    In your image the #1 terminal is at the 6 o'clock position, in the other image it's at the 5 o'clock position...
    Next question: How accurate are those images ?
