My ‘72 has the 4 screws going through the center of the lens. I think ‘71 has screw holes on the top & bottom. Kyle
Seller did include 2 photos of the GM of Canada Documents which do verify how it was originally equipped, including GSX ornamentation. According to the GM of Canada documents it did not come with the standard hubcaps that are on it now and left the factory with PA6 Styled Wheels (aka Super Sport Wheels) and double white wall tires. I think the car would look great with these installed back on it. The photo of a PA6 wheel shown below is for reference and was taken from the '72 Buick manual. Anyone have documentation that details what was included in Z49 Mandatory Canadian base equipment modifications?
Looks as if this car was rebuilt from 72 gs, many incorrect parts from the engine to the rear bumper. Cool car though
Pat, Forbes Pontiac Buick sold several GSX's in 70 and 71 not sure if they sold any 72's. They liked performance cars and were interested in ordering them in to their store.
I noticed that personally back in the early 90's when I was scouting out parts and cars, even with Skylarks in the mix there were not many 70's up here, I'd bet 95% of the cars I looked at were 71 and 72s. I'm thinking the US market got first dibs on the new models and then they were spread our more as the market saturated a bit. I do know there was a 70 GSX sold new in the Medicine Hat, Alberta area, the son of the guy who owned it painted the stripes on my 71 stage 1 in 1989. He liked that, I'm sure it brought some memories back and he did a great job. The stripes outlived him sad to say.
I’m curious as to what documentation he has to prove the “Original Mileage “ claim. With so many wrong parts on this low mileage claim it’s seems to be a big red flag to me.
I agree. A claim of low mileage really means nothing if the entire car has been taken completely apart and repainted incorrectly and then reassembled with a long list of incorrect year model parts. Mileage only matters to me if the car is original and unrestored. The '72 rear bumper on a '71 model car indicates to me that the person that built the car had no eye for correctness and I think that theme carries throughout the entire car. This is still a real '71 GSX with great documentation and it could be make into a more correct looking ride without too much trouble since most incorrect items are just bolt on items.
I think the owner needs to accept that it’s worth $25-30k and accept it. I hope he does and a Buick person buys it, loves it, keeps it and fixes the flaws. Patrick
You know there are only around 20 of these cars that are documented. It's a shame it has so many incorrect parts on it. If it was put back correctly it would probably command a decent dollar. Duane
A theme, that's funny, Gary. That's what I was thinking looking at it. Like how it has chrome on the E brake pedal, like a GTO pad, but nothing on the other pads. It's just a ton of stupid goofy stuff, the loom studs on the vc covers, the ground wire attached to the heater cover, it's wack. Most of that stuff you could fix in a weekend. I just don't get it. It's like that 70 white GSX, they want a ton of bucks, and the things got washer nozzles that are like 6" long! 20.00 to fix, 10 minute job, it's crazy. It is a very cool car, it just really needs TLC. And...the right wheels and tires !!!
