Help? On my 1969 GS 350 ralley wheels what type finish is the black? Flat, Satin or Gloss? The wheels are perfect except for that old black.

Also someone in the past 38 years painted my entire ramair unit gloss black. I belive the airfilter part is satin black but what of the fiberglass snorkel area? Is that to be left unpainted? Or Satin everything.

Gloss black is correct for air cleaners. For some reason some people started painting them satin black and everyone copied them?? I have some originals that were obviously never painted and they are gloss black. Not sure about 69 wheels but 70-72 were semi gloss black

The metal part of the air cleaner is gloss black, as Dave said. The fiberglass part should be bare.

Satin it will be then for the wheels!

As for the ram air unit you say gloss? OK is that the fiberglass front half also?

Time to strip the Air cleaner. I just found a great link from Vavoline. Restoring Air Cleaner. It was a 1969 GS 400 ram air. It said the metal was satin and the glass unpainted. They cleaned the fiberglass and then put clear over it and it looked like new.

Man I am dying looking at my car. Had it stripped this winter, new o6 Vett red and Top. New wheel sitting in box next to my new Boxed interior. Problem is in the past couple of months I have had knee and shoulder surgery. I can't do anything but look and dream. Man I love that car.

PS: I also should say and my wife. She did all the above for me to help me recover from my accident quicker. I told now I will have a stroke waiting for it to get done some how!

Try and find a satin clear for the fiberglass portion.
