I am curious as to what brand "All Purpose" cleaner if any guys use to clean their chrome or clear coated aluminum wheels.

I use Griot's standard wheel-cleaner on my Cragar Keystones...then wax them with Meguiar's cleaner wax when dry.

I'm sorry; I guess I worded my question poorly. I was inquiring as to the spray on cleaner used when washing the car to remove brake dust and or grime. </SPAN>

...and not all aluminum wheels are coated (or coating worn/scratched)...be careful to use tire/wheel cleaners that won't attack aluminum...

I have Centerlines on both Buicks...they recommend mild soap...

The Griot's cleaner is what I use for this purpose...it takes the brake dust & grime right off. They make different varieties for chrome and aluminum wheels, too.

Are you able to spray on and wash off or is there elbow grease involved? I too have the same question as i haven't been able to find one product that was as advertised spray on wash off.

I use a soft-bristled brush on the wheels after spraying on the cleaner and letting it soak in for about one minute. I give each wheel about a 20 second scrub. When I hit it with the hose, the grime rinses right off.

If you want something which is spray on/rinse off with no scrubbing whatsoever, it'll likely be very harsh chemical stuff which won't be good for your wheels.
