    Wheelz,
I can give you some help with this. I checked through my notes on 14" chrome wheels and came up with the following information.

    Numbers
The few 65-67 wheels I looked at all had a rim code of "813" and the word "Unistyle" stamped into the rim. These stamps would be covered up by the tire, so if you have bare rims you can see them. They will also have date codes stamped into the rim and the rearward facing side of the hub. (The date codes would be the only way to identify whether the wheels are from a 65, 66, or 67 car.) (Note, There are no codes stamped on the backside of the rim, where the tire weights would clip on.)

    Outward Appearance
The wheels use the flat style centers, that is the slots punched out of the hub remain flat/parallel to the brake drum. (If you look at a 71-newer 14" or 15" wheel with the raised centers, you will see what I mean.)

The wheels will also have no offset, that means the center hubs will be flush with the inner edge of the rim. (There will not be a place to lay a dime/quarter, like you can with a 70 and newer 15" wheel.)

The wheels will have a 4 3/8" backspace, like all the 14" wheels had up to 1973.

One thing to note, the rims of these wheels look different, so once you know what you are looking for, you can pick them out.

All this info is from an article I published in the BPG newsletter about "Identifying 14" Optional Wheels". All the newsletters are on our web site in electronic form, and if you are a member you can view and print them out.

Guys, the spare tire on my car has M4 over a "0", then a 5, then a 6 followed by WE, or 0 M4 5 6 WE. Without looking it up, is that correct for 65??
( Sorry Wheelz, or anyone else, it's not for sale. )

My scanner is off line right now, or I'd post a pic or two. The spare tire itself looks very ancient, as it is a bias ply, and has a lot of cracking along the sidewall.

The DOT code on that tire is VFL9 MYM097. I'm guessing maybe 1969.:Do No:

If I get my sacnner online, I'll post the pics.

    Tom,
    If your rim has M4 over a "0", then a 5, then a 6;

Then it was built on May 6, 1970 so it would be for a 1970 model car.

PS. All this info, and tons more, can easily be found in my Date Code Book. Hint...Hint...

Duane, I already have a copy of your date code book..............I just cannot remember where I packed it when I moved a few weeks ago.

Thanks for answering my query though. I sort of suspected from your previous description that my wheel wasn't a 65. Now I doubt that any of them are year correct, as none of them match the description.
