I know this not the the most popular wheel out there but I need some information on a wheel and I can't get a answer anywhere. What is the offset in mm of a alloy 16" wheel on a 1997 Oldsmobile LSS? And the offset on the plain black wheel on my 1984 Century Wagon? I'm interested in installing a set of wheels off a Buick LACROSSE ALLURE and the offset on them is 52mm and are 16" X 6 1/2". The reason I asked about the 1997 Oldsmobile LSS wheel because I have a set of these wheels to check for fit if they are the same. Thanks AL.

I don't know if I'll be much help, but here's some suggestions.

I owned an Olds Aurora a few years ago and the LSS wheels are the same as the ones on the Aurora. You should be able to get the offset info from an Olds dealer. Or, check on the internet for the companies that sell wheels that have been rebuilt and they should also have that information. I can tell you from experience that those wheels have a large offset because my Aurora had 60 series tires and they were all tucked under the fenders.

As for the stock black wheels, contact Frey the Wheelman, which I believe is a national company. I just went through "wheel hell" this past Spring trying to decide on new wheels for my car, and Frey had all the dimensions for stock wheels for my 1970. The man I spoke with told me they have books that go back into the 1960's.

When all else fails (as it did for me at one point in my search), grab the wheels and just do a trial fitting. Remember to check for brake component clearance and for body clearance. Also, make sure you can use the correct lug nuts for the wheel on the car. Good luck!

Paul, thanks for the post!!! :beer I'm looking to put some big feet on my Century Wagon. I looked around the other night and it seams that a 52mm offset is popular on the GM 16" wheel. With the suspension upgrades the 225-60-16" wheel and tire combo would give me more grab on turns :3gears: , AL.

Well, they fit :eek2: . But the tire is to big for the car. I turned the wheel lock to lock and it cleared with a 225-60-16!!!!!! I'm looking into a 205-55-16. AL

    Al:

Make sure you check ALL the clearance issues, not just right to left turns. Bounce the car - does the tire rub underneath the fender lip? Those are the real issues.

Before I bought my tires/wheels, I went through this same exercise. I tried to imagine every possible movement the tires would make and then I tried to replicate that situation. Believe me, the last thing you want is to have a tire ripped up because you hit a bump. Just take your time and really look. when you're all done, you'll have no worries!

BTW - I used the same information from the same information from the same site that Skyphix posted. It's good info!

Paul, I had a 225-60-16 on the front this morning and it was only close in one place, the edge of the top of the spring tower. That was way to big of a tire for that little car so a 205-55-16 would have more then enough room. The car sits real high for some reason and it looks like it came that way from the factory. I know when I get brakes or rotors for this car it thats the same ones the full size FWD use. Well anyway I've learned the Oldsmobile LSS alloy wheel has a 35mm offset and fits, and the ones I was looking at from a Buick Lecrosse has a 52mm offset so thats out of the picture. Thanks AL.

Okay, I'm a little confused here as per offset on a FWD wheel. A 35mm offset seem to fit good but the ones for sale were 52mm offset. Now how does that work, the higher the offset the more the wheel would hang out the side of the car? AL.

It looks like its the other way around. A higher offset would bring the wheel in closer to the cars center. AL.

Here is a e-mail from the seller.....

    hello,
i checked with the only person i trust with this information and he said the lss is 35mm.thank you
I just installed the Olds LSS wheel and it fit with a 225-60-16 and didn't hit anywhere lock to lock, but was very close to the spring tower shield. The tires are to big and would need to go to a 205-55-16 for a good fit. But the the LSS wheel is the correct one for a replcment wheel. Could you double check make sure the LSS has a different offset then the the Lacrosse wheel. Thanks AL.

Subject: Re: 4 BUICK LACROSSE ALLURE 16" OEM WHEELS & TIRES

Iam told the lss has a high 35mm offset,so 52 might be too high,my wheels are 52mm and they will fit park avenue and lesabre 94-up even these two cars has a 44mm offset .thank you
Hi, I have enquired many times about your Ebay Item number:7996952713 (4 BUICK LACROSSE ALLURE 16" OEM WHEELS & TIRES). You have posted the complete dimensions of the wheels up for sale. Do you know the dimensions of a alloy factory wheels (225-60-16)(115mm bolt circle)(offset???) for a 1997 Oldsmobile LSS? The reason I ask this is because I can try the wheels off my other car and then if the fit I'll buy yours. American Racing sell a "Aero" in a 16x7 and I was told this would work but I would like to keep a OEM style wheel on my wagon. As I posted earlier this wagon was ordered new with heavy duty drive line that included 115mm 5 bolt circle drive flanges and special ratio HD transaxle. Thanks AL.
