    Hi all,

Me again with ...................another question. Does anyone have a good way to get rusty, stripped out at the screw head, wheel opening moulding screws out ? I'd like to get them off the car before it goes to the body shop without taking the fenders off or messing up the mouldings....

    Thanks for any advice,

    Harry

I took my dremel tool and cut a straight line across the head and took them out with a standard screwdriver. That is after soaking them with a light oil. You can put some masking tape around the the screw, if you slip it does not mark the stainless.
    Good luck Dave.

Well, first off, you always want to use a nice quality screwdriver. If it is a cheapie, or worn out, you are bound to slip and round off the screw.

Dig the gunk out of the bottom of the hole with a sharp, pointed, something. An awl of some sort will usually do the job.

Get that nice screwdriver and put it into the hole, wack the handle of the screwdriver with a hammer like you are trying to punch it thru the screw. Not super hard, just give it a good wack. Then try turning the screw. If it doesn't go, give it a few more wacks.

If this doesn't work, you are at drilling or grinding the head off.
The above trick by grinding a "slot" for a standard screw driver is what I would try before drilling or grinding the head off.

Do every thing that Martinsr says the only thing I might add is use PB blaster for a presoak.

or...just take the dremel and grind the head off the screw completely.

Also--sometimes you can grab the threaded portion of the screw on the backside of the fender with some good visegrips and get it turning....this only works on the easier-to-access screws on the car.

Also--do yourself a favor and get one of these (THE ONLY TOOL YOU WILL EVER NEED FOR REMOVING WOM SCREWS!)----it is absolutely indispensable and useful on trunk trims, etc.
