Purchased a 72 Lark convertible this past summer and just starting to do some work on her. I want to swap out the 14" wheels with a more aggressive look. I was thinking a 15" /8 all around with 235 front and 255 rear. Any recommendations out there appreciated. Also, planned on install of rear sway bar and wondering if anyone knows a good company. Thanks for any other help on a DIY lark project.

Be careful with a 15x8 wheel in the front as it may rub when doing a full turn depending on your springs and shocks. I did 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the rear with 255/60/15s all around.

I like the 15x10 in the rear with 285/70R15 and 5.5" backsapce:

It also looks good with a 15x10 and 295/55R15:

I'd go with 17s, will give you a lot more choices in tires and wheels these days.
There are not a lot of choices in 14 and 15s anymore.
Look around this site you will see quite a lot examples to see if you like the look.
The 17s also will firm up your handling characteristics.

I agree with the 17s... If I had to purchase new wheels this summer I'd be looking to find something in a 17. Within the last 10 years or so the selection of tire brands and sizes in 15 has went to crap. Additionally the 15in wheel really limits your choices in regards to upgraded brake options.

I went with 17s myself. Like was said above a lot of tire choices. Also allows for more brake choices.

    I did 15x8 with 255 60s all around
Sometimes I will get a slight rub on the front fender as the edge of the tire passes the point of the fender (front trailing edge)

Never rubbing at full lock in either direction

245 60s up front should have no issues

The 15 inch Buick wheels still look great too!
I would also agree with the recommendation to get 15 x 7s on the front.
We all tend to overkill with the tire width. Wish mine were narrower in the front.
(Came with the car) The wide front tires tend to want to steer themselves on uneven roads.
Good luck with your selection if we haven't confused you!

Yeah, I like the 17" option as well. I wish I could go wider in the rear, but my skirts prevent me from doing this.

I was just checking out other wheels today and found these deals...

I liked the looks of this one for my car...and the price is excellent for a package deal.

It's really a personal preference, so good luck with what you decide on. Just remember, it's not permanent and can always be changed in the future if you don't like it.

I went with 17 inch rims as well. As far as the rear sway bar I recommend the kit from OPGI. I went with the 1" kit that included the weld in plates to box the lower control arms as well as the hardware, very nice parts, fit like factory. I also did poly bushings and new shocks and springs. Man I couldn't believe the difference in ride and handling, firm but not harsh and body roll is pretty much gone. Well worth the time and money.
