i have a 1971 Skylark custom., dont think the wheels on it are original. I got 2 sets of them, the ones off the car im not sure of, but the ones on the car are as follows. 225/70/R14 on the front, and 255/60R15 on the back. I like the big in the back and small in the front thing, so im gonna keep that theme. The tread on my rear wheels is amazing, but the front ones is very shitty. I want to put new White letter tires on, from summit (BF Goodrich Radial T/As) i figure are a good way to go, however im not sure about one thing. The front tires im going to keep the same size, but id like it if the rear wheels could be a lil wider. I like the 275/50/R15 i think. However you need a minimum width of 7.5. Ive heard alot of the 15X7 wheels, is there such a thing as a 15X8 buick rallye wheel? Just trying to avoid pulling the rubber lol. Any help appreciated, thanks.

I've had all kinds of different size rims on my car. You can have 15x8 rims made by Wheel Vintiques or Specialty Wheel. They run about $400 for a pair, delivered. You'll want 4.5" of backspacing on them to center them in the wheel well. The 275/50 is a wide tire, but not very tall at only 26".

    thanks

Youre right, the 275/50 is a 26 inch tire, i actually want to go for the 275/60, i beleive thats a 28in, as opposed to the 27 which is on the back now. I guess you miss understood my question, i dont wanna order a new wheel, im just wondering if Buick Rallye Wheels were availible in 15x8? Id have to pull the rubber off the wheel to measure for sure, but if they didnt come wider than 15x7 stock, then im not gonna bother replacing the rear tires. Thanks

Yes, the 275/60-15 is a 28" tire, and it will work just fine on a 15 X 7" Buick factory wheel, although 8" is optimal for a 275 width tire. Lots of guys use that tire on the factory 7" wheel. Buick never made a 15 X 8", so yours are 7" wide. As mentioned, the aftermarket does have 8" wheels and wider.

    Right on!

Right on, thanks alot, it was exactly what i was hoping to hear. However, if you check out the summit catalog it has a suggested minimum width of 7.5 for that particular BG Goodrich Radial TA, you sure its gonna work? :S. However im a first time buick/A-body owner, so im not familiar with this stuff. I know u were mentionig the back spacing for centering the wheel, but im not using the car for heavy application, it might see the strip maybe once or twice in my ownership, just for some fun, but its mostly a cruiser. So if the tire does fit on, do you think ill be ok for the rubbing factor? Thanks again.

Yes, I know what the Summit catalog says, and yes it should be on a wider wheel, but it will work just fine. I have several friends that run the 275/60R-15 on the factory Buick 15 X 7" wheel. There is no problem doing so.

There are even a few people running 295/50/15 tires on factory 15x7's.

Thanks alot for the reassurance, you guys have been a huge help, the 295 sounds tempting but the actual diameter of the tire is less than what im running on the front, so looks like im gonna opt for the 275. Thanks again.
