    Hello all,
OK, I did the swap to front disks with a kit on my 65 Skylark. I had 14" steel wheels. I know they will not fit. So, as per the maker of the kit I got some 14" rally wheels from a disk brake Buick (from a friend I trust) and they just SLIGHTLY are rubbing the calipers. I'm thinking maybe it's just the difference in the calipers. I put some 1/8 washers behind the wheel just to check clearence and it seems OK.
Anyone know of a thin ( 1/8 ) spacers I could use? At this point I would make the swap to 15's if I could easily do it but I hoping to drive the car to Bowling Green next Sunday so I'm in a crunch.

    Thanks,

    Frank

If they are barely rubbing can you find the high spot on the calipler and clearance it a little. I have the conversion on my 64 and the stock steel 14 inch wheels go over the calipers with no problems. Joe Riv has Buick wheels that were used on 67 and 68 GS cars with factory disc brakes.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll try and grind the calipers a little bit. I don't need much, an 1/8 at the most.

Well ... that was not it, I ground the caliper with no luck. As it turns out I have 3 wheels that don't fit the front and 1 that will. Even with a spacer they are not going to work. So for now I'm outa luck and running out of time. I may have to drive my truck to Bowling Green ....

    Thanks for the help though,

    Frank

Thanks Topless for the link, actually those wheels wound up not working BUT Joe located a source for a set that will.
So thanks again, without your help I wouldn't be back on track headed to BG.

You can get spacers at any auto parts supplier. I had to use them on my Charger with a front disc conversion, no biggie.
