For an 81-87 Regal and want steel (to be repainted)? I know. "WHAT?"

Well yea - what wheels fit? I know 5 on 4 3/4 and 15's for starters. Did some 80's Regals come with 15"?

Any other OEM GM or others that anyone has found that fit. Oh and yea I already have a set of 14's and some alloy wheels but am looking for steel.

Thanks for any help I can get.

Prett much any 5x4-3/4" will work for you. Stay away from the Vette and Camaro/Firebird wheels since they have an offset that's more of a front wheel drive style. The big cars and fullsize trucks had a 5x5" bolt pattern so those wont work for you either. The rest of the GM 5 lug wheels should be fair game.

The 15x8 vette ralley will work on the back. It has a 4 inch b.s. and works real well with a 255/60 tire. I believe a 275/60 will work also if you want to go that big. I am not completely sure but think the 15x7 ralley had 4 in b.s. also. The 15x6 ralley I believe had a 3 1/2 b.s. which might be a bit better for the g-body. The GN's and T-Types only had 15x7 wheels if i'm not mistaken. I hope that helps some. Do a search on here cos there is more info than you can shake a stick at. Peace

I want a smoothie look - the Rally wheels have this look I believe. Thanks max & 455. Yea the steel 14's came off an 84 and the alloys I have are TType rims (same as early GN but without black valley between fins).

I was just hoping to find a stocker that could be repainted etc. The pictured wheel is from Stockton Wheel but this olphart is hoping to go budget from boneyard or swapmeet.

Post up in the parts wanted section that you want a set of 15x7's with the 5x4-3/4 pattern hubcap wheels. The wheels that came with hubcaps are smooth or at most have 4-5 notches cut around the edge.

If you need I could probably show you a pic of my stockers so that you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Also hit up the junkyards. They sell for $25 or less at most of them.

bammax - that would be great - postem up please!

I may have a set of steel 15's but they are out at friends farm (and buried in snow) at the moment. I will drive out sometime in the next week. I really thought they were 14's but didn't look close when I stacked'em up. Well now I have this brainstorm of making my own set of blackout wheels and adding trim rings and moons for a cheap bad axx old school look.

    Thanks for your input.

Don't mind the dirt. They had hubcaps on them for 35+ years give or take a few trips to the tire shops over time.

Fullsize caps clip around the rim like on modern cars. "Poverty" or "dog dish" caps clip onto those 4 bumps that run around the inside ring (just outside of the lugnut area)

This type wheel will run the small "poverty" or "dog dish" caps and then the trim ring goes on the outside to give the appearence that you're looking for. Just make sure it has the 4 bumps for the small cap. The modern wheels look the same but don't have the bumps since they only use fullsize caps now.

    Re: Wheels?? EXACTLY!!

    bammax Thank you sir.

Exactly what I am looking for. With rings and baby mooon/dog dish centers I hope to spend ~ $200 maybe .... plus my time to do this. Big savings would come from not going with the $400+ cost of a new set of steel rally type 15's ..... then add $140 for chrome trim and centers. I don't want to use my T wheels and then I suppose I could be spending much much more money on billet stuff but that would slow this project down and I don't want to do that.

Earlier, I remembered that I left two wheels at a friends body shop - he's helped me a LOT. So I checked on those - there were two left on the old 7.5 rearend that turned out to be one 14" steel and one 15" 70's style Buick chrome wheel - so no luck. Next its out to the farm to check the other wheels. Seems I recall there were at least a couple 15" steelies in the mismatched set of six that came with the car.

Thanks again for taking time for your post and the reminders of what I need to look for! You're a credit to a great board!!!

Checked on the wheels that were indoors at the shed - Rats! - all turned out to be 14" so I guess its off to visit the boneyards for now. Maybe that search will go better.

    Later.

    Had other suggestions.

RWD Lesabres etc (B-bodies?) and S10's (SUV's) maybe.

If S10's sounds good to anyone - I'm wondering if 2wd or 4wd would make any difference? I want to know what I should check out in the boneyards when the cold and snow finally turns to mud around here.

    Thanks,
    Bob

On the s-10's: 2wd and 4wd have different backspacing. They are the same bolt pattern though so either should work as long as you have enough room to handle the backspacing.

For the b-bodies: You're looking for cars pre-'91. Carefull though as any heavyduty cars such as the police package and taxi's will have the 5x5 pattern and won't work for you. The Wagons always had the 5x5 pattern regardless of the make or year so avoid them. Most Caddys will have the 5x5 pattern so don't bother with them.

The b-bodies to look for are the '77-'90 RWD sedans (non-HD) and include the Chevy Caprice/Impala, Buick Lesabre, Olds Delta 88, Pontiac Parisienne/Bonneville. These will all be the big square cars that resemble an oversized g-body like you're used to. The Olds, Buick, and Pontiac all went to FWD in 1986 so if it's small and streamlined just keep walking.

Thanks - good advice. I haven't gotten out to look around yet - waiting for the mud to dry up - it almost did and I should hve gone looking yesterday but it was my dearly beloved's B day. Today its raining and the yards are closed. At least the WI snow is gone.:TU:

I have a little plastic wheel that has all the patterns 4 & 5 on whatever... that will help me with the right bolt config.
