    I checked with my tire supplier to see when the BFG 235/60 R15 tires might be available. They said they thought they might be off backorder in early June. So I thought I would email BFG and try to confirm this and this is the response;

Wow! I didn't know they were not keeping up production. I've got 4 of them sitting here with less than 200 miles on them and they haven't seen the road in 4 years! Guess when I get them mounted back up ill have to go easy on the burnouts till they ramp up production!!

What are you putting them on? The 245 is a size match for the G series tire.

I'm thinking of the 235s as well. I'm not trying to "match" the factory size, just wondering if they look a heck of a lot smaller than the 245s? I've got a relative who retired from Firestone and I can get a deal on their white letter Firehawks in 235 only. They don't make it in a 245. It rated higher by consumers than the T/A Radial for performance and its cheaper for me.

I had the Firehawks in 235 on my car before the BFG's. I had no problems with the firestones, they were a really good tire and wore really well (considering all the burnouts I did). I just caught a good deal on the BFG's when I was looking for new rubber so I went that way. As far as comparison wise, I dont think one really outshines the other IMO, but then again I didnt have many miles on my BFG's when I parked the car for a resto.

Actually the equivalent to a G60-15 falls about halfway between 235/60 and 245/60.
Most guys like the slightly bigger tire though. :TU:

Well, Damn. WTH is going on with BFG. First you can't get a 26" tall 50 series 15" (275). Now you can't even get a 60 series(235). That size is on the majority of the musclecars out there. My GN came with 215/65-15 which is the same as the 235/60-15, just a little narrower. Was planning on new 235/60 with 275/50 on the rear for both the GN and my 66 Skylark. Bought the 8.5" Buick ralleys for the Skylark, and got a pair of the 8.5" Vectors to match my stock GN wheels. Now I can't do either. Really don't want to have to have two different size spares in the car.

It's all these f'in 17, 18, 20, 22, etc ugly damn all wheel no tire BS crap really pisses me off.

Sorry for the rant. Just needed to vent.

Jim, what color is your Skylark?
Saw a nice yellow one running around the other day.

there was a long time when 295/50/15 were not available...same situation.
Now, they just became available...perhaps the 235/60's will if demand becomes apparent?...

245 60 on front with a stock 7 inch rim; 295 50 on rear with an 8 inch repro rim.

Well, it definitely wasn't mine. Hasn't been running in several years. Mine is kind of a burgundy color with really bad peeling clearcoat and a white painted hardtop.

In the middle of doing a front end rebuild, disc brake conversion, engine wiring harness rebuild, body bushing replacement, 455 replacement. Except for the 455 replacement, the rest of the work all snowballed from the disc brake swap. One thing led to the next, and the rest is history. Hopefully will get it back on the road sometime this year. Oh yeah, also swapping in a 71 8.5" 3.08 posi rearend that I still need to assemble.

Here is a little of what is going on.

BFG is owned by Michelin. These tires do not make as much profit as the newer tires in the rainbow of sizes. If you have limited capability for production, you aim for the highest demand, largest margin tire and put your low runners in when you can. You make a batch or two of them, then move on.

My gut is telling me this one. Coker, who is tight with BFG and Michelin, may end up with the Radial T/A line. It would still be marketed as a BFG, but it would not be built in a Michelin faculity. It would become a speciality tire and the tire price would probably jump dramatically. The sizes available would also be paired down. (Again, this is just the speculation of one person that has a little information and a lot of time).

PS: Coker's tire prices are due to go up 7% at the beginning of the month!:Dou:

You're probably onto it. Summit shows a BFG 245/60 in stock with a Coker BFG 245/60 due to start shipping in June. In the mean time for a 235/60 there's always the Mickey Thompson ST, aka Cooper Cobra, aka Mastercraft Avenger.

What percent are Kelsey's going up again?:Dou: and again:Dou: and again:Dou:

To the persons above that have been brainwashed into thinking the 245 is the closest match to a G60-15, instead of comparing the sizes on paper, take your G60-15 to your local tire store and visually compare it to a 245 and a 255, use your tape measure, check height and width, then roll both tires through water and measure the footprint left on dry pavement, then get back here on the computer and try to tell me the 245 is the closest match to a G60-15,when it's the 255 that is closer.
Buy yourself a set of Firestone Indy 500's in 255-60-15. They look great, handle great, and HOOK 10 times better than a BFG .:Smarty:

Take a look at your everyday tire, Michelin, BFG, Goodyear, Firestone, Uniroyal have all had multiple increases in tire prices. The price of raw materials has changed dramatically. Believe me, Kelsey does not want to change his prices, but he can't sell the tire for less than it cost to make it.
