I guess it still burns me that although some of us continue to have good intentions helping our fellow Buick brothers, there is still the select few that continuously post wanted Buick parts ads here. You know where those nice parts for good prices are going? Look for yourself.
That ad has run in the Bargain News forever. Do you know who it is? And are they getting donated/bought cheap here parts they're selling? Seems like that is what your saying. www.bargainnews.com
Yes, I do know who it is and yes, that IS what I'm saying. The parts he gets may not be "donated", but I'm sure he's getting good deals from this board and I HIGHLY doubt they are for personal use. Hopefully he sees this post and gets the hint!
How about a hint on who to steer clear of... i agree that hes doing the wrong thing and i will never buy from a person like that.
Wtf I'm "donating" a fellow board member and fellow Canuck a 350 4 barrell intake and I'm glad there's a location in that ad so I'm now also aware,NOT COOL! Harry
My disclaimer: I am not absolutely sure who this is. I went through the 'Parts Wanted' forum looking for multiple ads placed by a user who listed their location as CT - There's my hint :Smarty:
"Please explain.. do you price your parts differently for fellow Buick guys vs others, who obviously own a Buick also." I think that is what the guys are getting to. I for one havegiven away parts that I think will be personally used by other members of the board here. If I was trying to sell my parts for a fair market price then that is a different story. I think there is a common consensus that we, on this board, try to help others get their projects up and running and if we have something they can use well we let it go for less than if we would have auctioned it on ebay. Just look at the PAY IT FORWARD section. How many places do you see have that? Just my paultry .02 Sal
I agree that capitalism is alive and well and god bless! But the gripe I have with this whole situation (and individual), is exactly what others have said if a wanted part is going to a Buick enthusiast who genuinely needs it, and will put it to good use, chances are, that the price on this board will be cheaper than eBay or anywhere else. I know for a fact that others on this board have helped me out with things Ive needed. And theres no doubt they could have made more on eBay than what I paid. In fact, not too long ago, I put a post out for a part that I did not realize I already had. When I was just about to send a check out, I realized that the part was not needed. I contacted the V8 member that came forward to offer the needed part, and explained the situation. I also told him that I was more than willing to make good on the purchase, but also disclosed that I would more than likely resell the item because I did not need two. He agreed to keep the item and we both went our own ways with no hard feelings. Its called honesty. As for the individual I reference in this post, let me assure you that there is no restoration occurring. I have been to his house and seen his operation. There are plenty of chopped up Buicks and shelves of parts. Its a great weekend profit maker. One thing you wont find, is a meticulously restored anything, let alone a Buick. The parts wanted here, are to turn around for profit. Im sorry if you disagree, but on this board, I just dont think its right.
Also, seems there is no other contribution or participation other than buying and selling parts from this individual. It dampens the "spirit" of the whole thing for me anyway.
it all depends on who's oxe is being gored. ( i am kidding ) but i'm trying to make a point here before this goes to six pages. i have seen many people chisel down parts prices then turn around and ask top $$ for their car once its done. seems a lil one way to me. if the parts were so worthless, then the whole car bolted together is still pretty worthless too, right ? for the record, i just shipped a piece to a well known board member for about 2/3 what it would bring on feebay. i wanted to do something nice for that person. what he does with that item is not any of my business. he cant tell me what to do with the money, so why should i expect to have any say in what he does with the part ? i prefer a free market, capitalism rules. we live in the most regulated society on earth, lets have something that isnt regulated. with that said, the pay it forward section is not the same as the for sale section. i was wrong about that the last time this subject came up. shame on anyone who would mislead the person they are trading with. honesty rules too. i dont know who the person in question is. i predict a long thread.
Guess that took the guesswork out of it now....lol I agree..I have given parts away and have been the recipient of a few too (Thanks Scott,Larry Gibson etc)but what also pi$$es me off is the 3 guys who are members on here that stiffed me for parts and they were only things that I requested a small amount for or shipping alone.I for one will name these people to whoever pm's me about this.I am not a millionaire but ethics are ethics...Just my little rant.Thank You, Pat
Pat, Why would we need to PM you? If you know for a fact this happened to your parts and kindness, then start naming names. No need to be secretive. :Smarty: :TU:
You must be looking for Paul Toller "mr71skylark". He is buying up your parts here and selling them for top dollar all over the internet. Do a search for buick parts for sale on the net, you'll find the parts you just sold him. :af: ou: :spank: :blast: Jeff
i post parts on here but only buy for what i need on my cars i have also gave away parts and sold them cheaper than if i just ebay them those of you who know me , know i try to give a deal out and i try to explain the piece as best i can or lay a picture out on the other hand no one seems to be buying much from me at this time so i put it on ebay and i have had things sell for three times the amount as this forum i feel as if i'm being prosicuted somethimes for doing this heres a question please let me know how long should i let an add for sale run on this forum before i sell it and move on the yards around here have some pretty high end stuff sitting all over in there yards yet but they are scraping it i go there once a week and pick things up now and try and sell them to you on here first they hired me to ebay everything, not offer them up cheap but they seem to be happy for now. i have to move it along some is my money but most is there's thanks Greg
Ok He should just identify himself as someone dealing in parts that way people know that what they give or sell him is going to be re-sold. I dont mind the idea that he is making money off of Buick parts, but he should state in his signature what his intentions are. Im pretty new here and am still pretty much in awe about the way everyone is treated here and how people will help each other out with parts and advice. I have seen posts where parts were offered up for free to people who may not be able to afford them otherwise. It wouldnt really be right to ban a guy from the board or anything for buying and selling parts, some where down the road you may need something he has for sale. All everyone needs to do is try to be aware who you are conducting business with on here and everything will be cool. Go back and check out a guys old posts and see what he has been up to on here before you decide to do business with him, I always read a guys feedback on e-bay before doing any business with them.
the parts vendor is a most needed person in this hobby. without the dealers it would be hard to drive and restore our cars. anyone who gives us what we bargain for should be appreciated, even if the price is a lil more than what we had hoped to spend. if somebody wants to pay my prices, i dont care what they do with the stuff. honest vendors who jack up prices and supply me with nice parts i can restore my car with are good people.
