I have a 73 455 that I would like to build for a car some day. Not even sure what it may go in but to say I'm on a budget, is a gross understatement. I will be funding the project with the sale of old Chevy parts on e-bay. The details I have so far are that it will be a light car like maybe a Skyhawk. I know I won't have the funds for the dream HP numbers so I might as well plan for a light car of little value! I want to motor to be a pump gas motor so I was thinking of 8 1/2 to 1 pistons. I have the motor apart and all looks OK but will for sure need a bore and fresh pistons. I am wondering what would be the best choice of heads, cam etc. for such a build. I believe if I stick with the 73 heads, the compression will be lower than with the 70 heads and I also thought that some older 430 heads may work well?

If and when, I do plan to race this thing a good bit so I would just like some ideas on what you would do in this situation? Just looking for good ideas on a nice build on a budget. I plan to keep the Q-Jet and may even retain the exh manifolds.

In the end, I may not get the class, but I'd still like to go fast!

    Thanks for any build ideas!!
