A little help please. I need to know from you 72 455 people, where you get your radiator hoses & what part numbers you use. We did a search here and came up with Gates # 20597 (lower) and #20980 (upper) our local Napa cross matched those numbers and what they gave us was not even close ou: Thanks, Beth
gates vs dayco; they each have their own versions. one will fit/look better than the other and vice/versus. try a different yr and model or hopefully somebody here has already done this. got a cold, so my mind is out of service.... john
Search the archieves. We have converted the water front on this many times. Autozone has one as I recall. If you cannot find it, I will look tonight.
Hey John thanks, It seems as though every number we get from the searches here cant get us anywhere with the local parts store's here. Each time they've brought out hoses that arent even close :spank: This stinks... they're just hoses for crying out loud. D.
All right I'll get you the #s I used. They all make them different. I deal with this all the time. I usually buy goodyear for domestic and gates for imports. Does it have a four row? What about AC. 455 wagon, right? JP
Upper and Lower Hoses Beth, are you using a open element air cleaner, is this a factory A/C car, and are you using a 3 or 4 row radiator, AL.
I recently purchased a Gates 20907 as a spare for my 70 Estate Wagon that I have not yet put on - looks correct for the lower for both of my cars.
Here is an old post on the topic. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=8529&highlight=hose+autozone+upper
Radiator Hoses Beth, I talked to Car Quest and they carry Gates line of belts and hoses and they stock the lower one (#20980) and can order the lower (#20597). The upper is around $20.00 and the lower is around $17.00. Hope this helps, AL.
Thanks Guys :TU: Jim, we were all over that thread in a search but the problem was with our local parts ferrets. They couldnt take the numbers we gave them from that thread and come up with something that even remotely came close. We found a solution though........Since I never throw out old parts, Beth found an upper and lower that I pulled off my old GS last winter that were hiding in a corner in our garage, snagged the #'s off em and Napa has em both (they say) we'll pick em up saturday morning and verify they are OK. SO hopefully all is well  Thanks alot everyone for your help :TU: D.
Radiator Hoses I see you came up with the same numbers and the different shape hoses could be the one that the car came with was discountinued and another hose substituted the correct one because it fit something else and will work on more then one application, AL.
1970-71 upper 60683 1972 upper 60675 1970-72 lower 60698 Good year #s 72 upper is probably different because of the air pump HTH JP
Radiator Hoses Beth ou: I just remembered this one. You have the same year as me and there was a change in the hose. They did discountue the correct one and I e-mailed T/A Performance with the correct part number. I even called Gates and Dayco to see if they were interested in making a run of them if I made a minimum order, AL.
Upper & Lower Hoses for a 455 GS Hi all, 1st, thanks for all the info guys :TU: . Here is the final word, Napa had the hoses here are the part numbers. Upper hose, Napa ECR # 7596 Lower hose, Napa ECR # 7644 They are a perfect match. I used to yell at Dana for not tossing out old parts....... never again. Beth
