I am considering the purchase of a 1967 Skylark with a 340 4bbl and would like to know if anyone has done a hi-po engine rebuild. Nothing crazy, just a nice cruiser. I can't seem to find any performance parts for these engines anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    not much

cams from postons & i think t/a,headers that may,may not fit according to those who have tried from postons.the stock exhaust manifolds are real close to being headers inthemselves.thats all i have found.do a search here for 340.

I just finished a rebuild on my 67 340 engine! Just + .030 pistons, Poston 110A cam, had some heads fixed up by Carmen Faso with HD springs (have to have fo the cam) and some + .050 pushrods (also from Mr Faso!) to make up for the different base circle of the cam. rebuilt rocker assemblies too. Slapping some red paint on tomorrow! I will post some pctures.

I'm not so sure those motors need hi po parts, as well as they run with stock parts! That is a GREAT engine, IMHO....

Hi Ponch I have considered a 340 in my 65 too but do not want to do away with the original engine, but have considered a 350 if it was not alot of trouble to swap and just keep the original safely stored but decided against all that and am going to keep my original 300 but it is a two barrell and would like a four, does anyone know what you would have to do to swap to four barrel, such as would you have to use four barrel heads and such to match the new intake or could this be done just by maybe a little bigger cam to let in a little more feul and such,if anyone has done this swap from 2 to 4 barrel, let me know your expierences in doing so,Thanks and Merry Christmas everyone.
