where is the fuel filter on a stock skylark?

My skylark still has the hard line from the pump to the carb (2bbl) and I plan on checking the filter tomorrow. Can someone tell me where the fuel filter should be on it before I get down and dirty?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I know on the Qjets it is in the carb, right where the fuel fitting is to connect the line. Whether or not the dualjet is the same way is beyond me.:Do No:

Yeah, the fuel filter is inside the large piece that fits into the carb from the fuel line. You have to remove the fuel line, and then the larger "bolt" from the carb, and it is in there.

Here's a pic...the 2bbl should be the same...at least relatively. (I remember changing the filter when I still had the 2bbl on the lesabre)

    '70? I didn't think the dualjet was introduced until '76 or so. It's probably a different 2bbl.

But yes, dualjets have the filter in exact the same place as quadrajets. It's essentially the same carb, from the secondaries forward.

Oops, I've been looking through my Rochester book again and I thought that is what the 2 bbls were called. Didn't realize they were different than the standard 2 bbls. You'll have to excuse my ignorance. :Dou:

Thanks guys, I kinda suspected that is where it was, but I had never changed one on a 2bbl car before. :TU:

Nope, GM has actually had three or four 2bbl carbs... the VaraJet, DualJet, and 2G... The VaraJet is unique in that it is a sequential 2bbl... that is, it has one primary and one secondary.

A '70 car most likely had a 2G carb, as the other two weren't even in production yet... :)

Make sure to hold the Carb fitting with a wrench while you loosen the fuel line, Othewise you'll be dealing with a twisted metal line, Been there, done that.:Dou:
