Where is the resistor ballast?

Last year I had a guy drop a new 350 in my 72 Skylark and I changed over to a Pertronix 1 unit. After that I had a hot start problem which I just discovered is due to only getting 5.5v to the coil meaning that he apparently didn't bypass the ballast. I would like to make this easy fix myself but I don't see a ballast anywhere. He did a nice job hiding the wires from the coil so I'm hoping that I can just bypass the resistor at the ballast. Please help.

There is no ceramic ballast resistor to find, in your case the resistance is built into the wiring harness itself. If you measure the resistance along the cloth covered wire leading to the positive side of the coil you can see it. The alternative is to cut it out and replace it with a copper wire or wrap it up out of the way and run an alternate +12V keyed source.
