I just picked up a 65 Rivi GS and I'm trying to determine if it has the orig trans. It has the correct BS stamping on the tag and the date code of 328 is right but I have looked for the VIN on the drivers side down where the pan and trans come together and above that but I dont see any numbers at all. Does anybody have a pic showing their 65 400 with the VIN location. Thanks

    Hi SBP,
Dont believe the VIN is stamped in your `65 400.The BS code is correct for the `65 Riv GS. When you described the date code 328 as "right" what exactly did you mean? What does 328 stand for? :Do No:

The 328 I believe is the Julian date code, which is the 328th day of 1964. My car has a build date of 12A which would be the 1st week of Dec. The trans would have been built approx. a week or 2 before the car. I'm not an expert but I have read articals on this someplace. If I'm wrong somebody let me know.
