Hi guys: I have a silly question/ where do connect power to my duel fans and my elec vacuum pump so when I start the motor all the power goes to the starter and not the acc. all together the starter is being drawn down when the motor is hot. not a good way to put this question but don't know how else to say it.Ken

Connect the pump and fans with shut off switches so that you can switch them on AFTER the engine is running.

Find an accessory circuit that only gets power when the key is in the "On" position and not when the engine is cranking. I tapped in to the circuit that feeds power to the heater fan On/Off switch and run a separate fuse panel that I use for accessories that require power only when the key is in the On position, such as electric fans (through relays of course). For accessories that require power when the engine is cranking I connected a relay to the resistor wire that normally goes to the distributor. That relay feeds a separate 6 circuit fuse panel to which I connect the MSD box and fuel injection system, because both need power when the engine is cranking.

Its best to use a separate 30/40 amp relay to power add ons ESPECIALLY fans, fuel pumps, lights etc. Gauges,Radio, and low amp circuits are fine to piggy back off the fuse box. There is two extra prongs on 70/72 cars that are ACC and Batt you can use the Batt to power a relay or relays.

Larry: strange you would suggest the switches for on and off. I have already done this, but failed to turn on the vacuum pump one time and had the poop scrared out of me when I hit the brakes and had none. thanks for your input Ken.

It was the first solution that came to mind, but Bill's suggestion is better.
