Hello, I would like to buy a set of for new 15x8 Buick rally wheels for my 1970 GS455 Stage1. I first looked at Wheel Vintiques, but it seems that they don't have 15x8 in stock or in production in a near future (seems "custom built"). Does anyone could recommend a good reseller which of this kind of wheels ? (should be able to ship Worldwide as I'm in Switzerland) Many thanks for your help and advices. Jeff
wheel vintiques or specialty wheels or coker tire . my brother ordered 4 from specialty a few weeks ago.
Year One. Part # HF76. About $170.00 Where in Switz? I have family there. Laufenberg, right on the river. I've seen a couple of Mustangs and Camaros there but not a Buick yet!
155.00 ea. plus freight to you. We have a large order in now and can add some soon. Mark Then & Now 770-592-4411 ask for David
I ordered my 15 x7 's locally, as they are coker tire dealer. They showed up with 'wheel vintiques" on box. 3 of the 4 are excellent and on car. Fourth one I stripped the paint down and re-did it as it was complete crap and center had some small pits etc. They are putting used centers into new barrels. Nothing wrong with that as long as centers are good. Option was order replacement and wait a few more weeks for it to show. No good as I want to be on the road by July at latest, got a small deal and put 8 hours (they are a b***h to sand!) into that one wheel. Just a heads up. They are quite nice, have the 70 WG offset for an extra 1" of track width overall and excellent chrome. Center section is chrome (incorrect) but looks great. later Tim
u did a great refinish job! what paint did u use? did u have to redo the face of the centre? i just emailed rick as to your request .
Tremclad semi-gloss black. Perfect match to whatever they are using. You can't see it but the spokes etc are masked off, any overpspray can be scrapped with a razor blade or rubbed off with solvent and then polished up as center spokes etc are also chrome. Thats why I didn't worry abut the outer edge too much. Did my Stage 1 with same stuff back in 89 or so, still look great! Paint has probably changed but it is tough stuff, for sure. Takes forever to dry though.
15x8 Rally Wheels Thanks for your suggestions. I contacted WheelVintiques but they don't have any stock of 15x8 soon and they will not ship overseas. I contacted also SpecialtyWheel, but don't get any reply from them. Does somebody knows some other sellers where I could fin and order them ? Many thanks for your help. Jeff
I would call Then and Now, as posted above. They special order them in large quantites from Speciality Wheel and are therefore able to get their attention. That is where I got mine from. 155.00 ea. plus freight to you. We have a large order in now and can add some soon. Mark Then & Now 770-592-4411 ask for David
235/60R15 on 15 x 7. pretty much standard sidewall, same height as my other (26.25"). Might be because I left the macro lens setting on and it kinda distorts the edges plus the masking makes it look large!!
Tim, It will be nice to see you get the car on the road. It has been a long time coming, but you are doing a terrific job with it. Did you order the wheels from Fountain Tire? I know they are a Coker dealer, but they didn't seem too interested in my business. The Wheel Master dude in Calgary wanted $1200 for a set with center caps, so I got fed up and ordered a set of American Racing Hopsters. I see that Eastwood has the Buick wheels on sale right now also, but I don't know if they have stock. Brian
Hi Brian, no I ordered them from a place called My Tires on 32nd. Talk to Anand, super nice guy, talks slow so be patient. Kinda odd, they do mostly import stuff but money is money and then I have no hassles (other than that one rim but that is not their fault). Really good prices on tires and stuff, but I have never seen catalogues and macdonalds wrappers piled up so high in my life!!! I got quoted 1300.00 with centercaps from wheelmaster (no thanks), these ones from coker did not have centercaps (people only sell 70 style anyway, incorrect for my car plus I have NOS here already) and even with the middle man in there I paid WAY less than that. If I wasn't in a rush I could have ordered stateside then ship to sister and then bring back myself and saved more (although gas would eat most of that up anyway) but it would take a month or more to organize everything. Can't ship straight here as everyone uses UPS which of course gets you another 200.00 in UPS fees and rip-off charges at the border. I really like those 17" billet aluminum ones, saw one today (wow!) but nobody local will bring them in except wheelmaster. His prices are nuts. They are nuts to start with so that will have to wait for a while yet.... later Tim
wheels Hi,Do you have a picture of your car with the hopsters, and what size did you go.Thanks , Curtis :beer
Hi Curtis, I don't have the Hopsters yet. The wait is killing me! Hopefully they will be in this week sometime, then I will get some pics up for you. I ordered 15x7 fronts and 15x8 rears with BFG Radial T/A's, 225-60R-15 front and 245-60R15 rears. The Hopsters are 3.75" backspace. Brian
15X8 wheels I just read where you wrote: "I just ordered 15X8 wheels from eastwood. They were $139 each---" Can you provide a link for eastwood ? I can't find them. Also, do you guys know if the 15x6 '71 - '73 rally rims also fit on the earlier cars (I have a '68 Riviera)? I know they are a little different offset and dish even though they almost look the same. I know the bolt pattern is the same but I want to make sure they don't rub anywhere. Thanks Victor
hoopsters Looking forward to the pictures of the hoopsters,I was looking into wheelvintiques in Canada through local guy but the price was $300 with no center cap.So I am still trying to figure something out.Hoopsters maybe the way for me to go as well. Thanks Curtis :beer
