I am putting in an Autometer tach in my dash and I would like to hook up the tach light to my dash lights so the tach light comes on with the lights and the dimmer will also adjust the lighting in the tach.
If I cannot do that then I would like to hook up the tach light to the dash lights?
    Thanks

    Tim,
This is an easy one. Go to the fuse box and run a wire to the right had side of the fuse for the instrument panel. Usually just a metal connector slipped between the fuse and the side of the box works.
Then run it to the tach. It will be fused and then dims with the panel lights.
Have done this for years and has always worked for me.

    Tim,
You should have a lighting wire already in the dash that you can use. Depending on what was there (clock, tach, or block off plate) before, there should be wires there. They are grey, I believe. Alternately, you can use the ashtray light.(just tee into it) That wire is also gray. Marks method will work also, but why run extra wires if you don't need to.

It was blocked out and that is where I mounted my tach. I noticed that there are two small empy bulb sockets with a gray wire running to them that are tucked away in the dash, can I hook into these?
    Thanks

That's right, or for a clock. Use one of those wires Tim.
