Hello all I'm currently looking to complete the swap of my old peg leg, to my new posi 3.23, but I have a problem. Can someone please tell me which style of drum brakes do I need for the 3.23. The rearend did not come with the drums on it when I purchased. I need to know if I need the drums that I need are the regular ones or the one that have the extended fins on them. Of the electras that I have had previously I believe both of those was the standard drums, but I'm unsure if it's different due to this one being a posi. Thanks much in advance

Posi/no posi it doesnt make a difference.
What type of rear end we talking about?
If its a big car 9-3/8ths, I used the "station wagon" drums in my 75 Electra. They were 3-4" wide on the outside I believe, the inside shoe contact surface was the same as stock.

Yep, Need to know the size rear and the car type... Most likely 11" for the full size car. Always try to get finned drums they will cool better.
You will need to know the brake offset like 2.75" or 3" etc. wheel bolt pattern 5 lug on 5" Stud size 1/2 or 7/16"

But all this will normally a moot point as long as you haVE A original rear for the year car you have. :) Jim

You got a good find there with that ratio AND a posi:TU:

yES, finned AND NOT FIND SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Sorry for the caps... The brake off set will need to be matched up with the correct drum. I think the offset is 3" for full size cars. They is the measurement from the backing plate flange to the drum /wheel mounting machine surface the studs are pressed through NOT the backside the most outside machined surface.

    So hope this helps. Jim
