Hey guys! I picked up the body and frame to a 1935 Buick Sedan Four-door the other day -- I'm thinking it'll make a nice custom for my gal. Unfortunately, I'm new to Buicks, and don't know much about what engine is ideal for this body. I'm looking for something that's affordable, relatively easy to find, has decent power, etc.. I'll also be needing a transmission, so any suggestions for engine/transmission combos would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance for helping start me out in the right direction! ~Overdrive
It's hard to beat a mild 455 and turbo 400 for reliability and performance. By most street rodder's standards it will haul butt with a stock engine and get decent mileage too with 3.55's or taller depending on what your goal is performance-wise. Plus, you can probably get a whole donor car for a few hundred bucks if you watch the papers.
