I've got a 69 GS400, with what I think it the stock 10-bolt 2.93 rear. I'd like to pick up a Powertrax, but I'm not sure which one to get. Is this rear a 7.5, 8.2. 8.5, how many splines? How can I figure that out? Thanks

If your rear is original, it is the Buick 8.2 10 bolt used from 68-70. That is not the same as the Pontiac type 8.2, or the 8.2 10 bolt used by Buick from 64-67. I'm not sure if Powertrax makes something for the 68-70 Buick 10 bolt. PM Monzaz and ask Jim. Look at the way the rear universal joint cups are secured to the rear yoke. The 8.2 uses U-bolts and nuts, the 8.5 uses straps and bolts. I removed my original 8.2 10 bolt OO 3.42 4 pinion rear, and built up a 1971 8.5 10 bolt with Moser axles and Eaton Posi. Jim can do the same for you at a great price.

Maybe its just bad luck but I've never seen a powertrax hold up for more than a year.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Get the 71-2 Skylark/Cutlass 8.5" rear and then you have many more choices on gear sets and limitied slip units.

You will need to shorten your driveshaft 3/4-1"

That may be what I end up doing. I was trying to keep the original rear end in the car, but that looks difficult. It just needs more traction than the one wheel can give.

I just got off the phone with Richmond Tech support.

    Part # 92-07-82-2801

Powertrax No Slip that will fit a 1969 GS400 with 2.93 open rear end.

Oh I see the previous post, I need to shorten the driveshaft.

3/4" at most, that's cheap enough. The 71-72 8.5 is a stronger rear, and after market support is plentiful.
