Which turn signal switch in 65 Skylark GS?

Working on my 65 GS/Bucamino which has a 65 GS steering column and an after market wiring harness. Need to know which turn signal switch to order as PO said the guys building the car made do with a switch from something else. I am having problems resolving turn signal issues and thought I would start with the switch. Is there a specific switch that works on 65 Skylark GS without tilt and of course a four speed floor shift? Choices are a BPC or GUIDE. Since mine is the wrong part, I don't know which one to order.

    Thanks in advance,

I think you need to use the same one that was originally inside the column, I do believe they mount differently and will not interchange without changing more parts than just the switch. I'm saying if you have a BPC you replace with same and likewise the Guide.

I guess what I need to know is; what is the difference between the two and can I tell by looking at the column which it is supposed to have?

I assume then that your switch is missing. I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I had a 65 GS 4spd, I changed the column to a tilt column from a 65 Skylark, tilt columns have the turn signal switch down on the lower portion of the column and is actuated by a cable running from the upper part of the column where the turn signal handle/stalk is located. I did keep the original non tilt column around for a few years but sold it a few years back. I do remember my car was a CA built car and had a BPC turn signal switch, but don't remember how it mounted exactly. I did have it all apart 10+ years ago, and put a new lower bearing, cleaned and painted it and reassembled it. I thought it was a pain. And one of the plastic arms which kicks the signal off was broken, so I looked into replacing it, that's when I found out there were 2 different switches and they wouldn't interchange, assuming I was given good information at that time. So I only saw the BPC switch and don't know how the Guide would differ now, 10+ years later.
Hopefully someone else will answer, maybe go to 65GS.com and ask there.

    Hi Ragtops,

I did a little research via Ebay and the BPC is half pot metal and the guide is all plastic. The story I got from the PO was that they had a hard time getting the correct switch and not certain it is correct. I guess I will pull the wheel and see if I can tell anything from what they did. The wire colors are wrong for a 65 so I don't know what they installed. I do have a used BPC switch, I guess I could see if it looks like it will fit the column. I didn't want to take it apart until I knew what I should look for. Thanks for the suggestion on 65GS.com, but I had already posted over there. This is time sensitive for me as I want to get this thing on the road in the next four weeks, so I posted on both sites.......

    Thanks, Kurt
