the last few days there's been a whinning sound from my tranny, it's a th400 with b&m shift-kit, I think it's the b&m holeshot converter, since it feels like it slips more and more :( the shifts is still crispy :3gears:
also the converter gets VERY hot after runnig for just 45 sec. actually it gets hotter than the exhaust manifold
has anyone an idea or heard about a similar problem?

If it is slipping, don't drive the car. Slippage will make even more heat. At full operating temps, the ATF will be at around 180*, hot enough to burn your hand. How does the fluid look and smell? Could also be the front pump also. Take it to a trans shop so they can test the oil pressures.

Your filter tube may have also come apart in the pan. That can make some noises up under there all of a sudden.

I'll second that. I had this occur recently and had visions of mangled shaft splines and more. Turned out the filter and tube were loose and it was sucking air. Drop your pan and check the pickup and filter.

If you go through all the trouble to drop your oil pan,Get a drain plug kit for it as well.I just bought and installed one..5 bucks and change and a couple minutes with a 1/2" drill bit and a file. Tighten it up...you wont have to worry about it again.

When that happened to me it ended up being the front pump sun gear grinding.

Could be low line pressure from front pump

You might have a stuck pressure relief valve (stuck open) in the front pump caused by a burr. Check line pressure. If it is low and the pressure relief valve is stuck open or partially open, the transmission will whine like a gear drive. I had this problem with a Turbo 400 I had in a Buick.

In the meantime, do not drive the car. Low line pressure will destroy the clutches. The fix may be as simple as removing the transmission ,pulling the front pump out, removing the pressure relief valve on the back side of the pump and polishing a burr off of the pressure relief valve. This is what I had to do in my situation.
