Yes I did! The trunk does have some damage but very minor. This one will make Dave H drool. No pics yet but will have some soon.
I watched my Bonneville drive away with its new owner behind the wheel and the next day I found this car at the Norwalk Pontiac Nationals. Its a disease!

Steve Coulter with the 71 GT-37 withdrew at the end of fri with transmission issues. He didn't want to chance it or go home and thrash to put the other M-21 in.

I beat the clutch out of the Judge after seven seasons and put a new one in over night to just promptly lose the posi in the car. After 77K miles and all my racing and the original owners racing on slicks I suppose the posi was bound to go:laugh:

Those four pin. BOP posi's sure are tough. And with well over 300 passes on the Center Force dual friction clutch you could say the same for them.

Bad timing to have everything call it quits though.

    Speaking of tough clutches.....

I had two friends that had the GM factory dual disk clutchs, one 69 Chevelle SS396 and the other a 69 Camaro with a engine swapped to a 427. The clutch pedals felt like stepping on a wet spounge but they hooked up super. They even took the abuse of doing 3rd gear burn outs (the guy with the Camaro couldn't find first gear most of the time) with slicks :eek2: . The guy with the Camaro still has the car, still with the original factory MA6 dual disk clutch. Says it'll be with the car as long as he lives. The guy with the Chevelle took the clutch out because he thought it wasn't "stiff enough". I bought it from him (cheap!!) and later sold it to a guy with a modified production car who loved it.

Wouldn't be suprised to see that NOS clutch on e-bay sell for over $1000 :dollar:s .

The clutch in the W31's was a Scheiffer unit that was also used on one of the big time 427 Chevies (L88, L89?) That was the only Olds application that ever used it. Wasn't so much the torque or even the hp, was the high RPM's they were protecting for. Even the big W30's didn't use it.

It was a beast to push in and almost impossible in a traffic jam. Constantly kicking it in and out of neutral. The Centerforce was a great improvement there.

Yes, Bruno it looks exactly like that minus the red wheels. I just watched 2 separate auctions on ebay for a pair of NOS headlight bezels for the '61. The first auction went to $865 and the second went to $608. Both were bought by the same guy. CRAZY!

    Ken,

Where'd you find it? There was a 1961 3 speed stick Ventura in North Carolina a coupla weeks ago that sold in a blink of an eye at a swap meet. Guy got it and a 64 Catalina stick hardtop for $2500. Drove them home.

The car was at the Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk in the car corral. Its a very solid California car. Currently it has a 1968 400 and 400 trans that someone installed at some time in its life. I have been wanting one of these for a long time. It will be at the pure stocks when done which I am sure will be at least a year. And....it will have a clutch (third pedal operated by driver type) when finished.:3gears:

You and me both. I've only had one 61, although a half dozen other big Pontiacs ranging from a 58, 59 (3) 63's, a 64, a 65, and a 68. My 61 was a dark red convertible, triple color interior (red, maroon, white) with a white top. PS, PB, 3 speed stick, 389 4 barrel. Loved that car.

Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll do it up right. BTW saw 3 or 4 gorgeous big Pontiacs at Bakers in Milford last Sunday. I was drooling.

Ken, what type of times did you run at Stanton this year? The PSMCDR 2007 excel sheet just has your qualifying time of 12.54. You were suppose to run the silver 426 Wedge Mopar weren't you? What type of 60' times?

Jim, I ran som 12.6's and 12.7's with 12.54 being the best for the day. I was really looking forward to the better air the next day but the car broke on my first pass. My short times were terrible around 2.0.
Earlier this summer I took the car to Milan and pulled some 1.88 short times and ran 12.35. Oh well, there is always next year.

How about a new best 60 ft list counting friday runs also .It would be interesting to see if there were many more sub 2 second 60 ft times on friday when there were many more runs made. All 4 of my runs on friday were sub 2 second :3gears:
