    Cool beans, Rich!

It looks like Trevor has a good handle on things. So who does the Hurst/SC Rambler belong to, in which Trevor is sitting, if it isn't yours?

I'll be looking for your red AMX next year! :TU: BP

Bob ,at the time the pic. of Trev. was taken, about a year and a half ago,the S/C was in my corral. The car now resides in Canada.
Ya just can't start um too young!
It's great to have PS to share with him.
    He's my best bud!

    Rich:

BTW, if you ever see that 1968 Rebel SST convertible at an AMC meet, the one I kept in hibernation but operational all those years, it is no longer the original Hialeah Yellow.

The purchasers were an AMC hobbyist family from the Detroit area whose name escapes me; "Dad" was an AMC retiree. They did a thorough color change to Matador Red. They could pretty much make it any color they wanted, since it was built with a black top and black interior.

They did a beautiful job on the car...but then again, they started out with the straightest, most rust-free south-Texas "core" you could imagine...and they drove it home from west of Indianapolis to Detroit when they bought it. (I advised them against it because it had been off the road ten years when they picked it up, but they insisted on driving it. I was afraid one brake caliper might be hanging up and told them so, but I guess it didn't and they got home fine.) :)

Hey, enjoy your time with Trevor! My son Joe and I "kind of" restored a 1974 Javelin Six/automatic for his first car in high school, 1994-1998. It was a real curiosity in suburban Indianapolis; there weren't too many of those left on midwestern streets at the time, and all his friends thought it was pretty cool.

That Javelin is long gone, now; Joe will be 27 in June and is a chef in a fancy New York City restaurant and doesn't even own a car for the time being. He'll be out of that environment sooner or later and when he does, I think he'd really like to have a nice 1971-1974 Javelin AMX; he really likes them.

Trust me on this: Trevor will be gone before you know it. :( Enjoy your time together and be sure he knows you love him; it's the best send-off you can give him. BP

Ron Tuttle and Ron Savage. These two guys really put the screws to me to participate with my 72 Gran Torino Sport, 351CJ 4 speed car. I had a ball that first year and have never looked back. It is at the top of my "must do" events each year. The cars are great, its a blast running my car and the people are just so incredible. Plus, having Dan Jensen here in the same town doesnt hurt either and he's ALWAYS great to chat with at the local cruise night.

I remember the Brewers (if I even have the names right) being a real inspiration when they broke the Nova into the 12's. Haven't heard of them or the Nova at any of the P/S events in recent years. Does anyone know whatever happened to the Brewer camp?

As a teen, I used to read about the Jensen brothers. Then there was a PS race one year, which I thought was cool because I'm a purist. Plus, I used to read the Supercar Showdown and Musclecar Nationals (and had Dad take me to two of 'em when they were at Atco around '88 or so). So I coincided a move from CO to NJ with the '96 PS race and stopped by. I raced my car (which was severely out of tune, which it continues to be!), and then I found myself in the area the next year. As I felt Dan and Bob were nice guys and it was almost like befriending a famous person to me, I told 'em that I'd help out in the next event. Turns out I was put in the tower, and I've been doing it ever since!

Not only that, but as I lived in the area for a few years, I got to hang out with Dan, not to mention Scott and Denny and a bunch of Canadians and so forth. Dan took me once to the Eyes on Design show in Grosse Pointe, and we went together to the Olds Homecoming (and 100th Ann too!), so it was very nice to hang out with people who took the same interest in cars as me because it's just hard to find a person with my enthusiasm from my generation. When the day is done, it's all about being around good people.

Kudos to the Studebaker guys - especially Bob Palma - who have brought a new mix to the event, not to mention putting out a very nice newsletter. If all car clubs had a magazine like his Stude club's, Amos and Primedia would be put out of business!

Dan Jensen is my inspiration. Saw his HO T-37 in a mag back in 85 or 86 and just had to have something like it. Seeing that T pulling the front wheel at the starting line in those magazine shots brought me through many long hours of work and many dark days. I eventually met Dan and he impressed me as quite an intelligent fellow and a gentleman .

Reading about the events in the old Muscle Car Review Magazine really got me interested.
I then became good friends with Tom Kelly who has been racing the the red '68 Hemi Road Runner for many years. Seeing all the fun he was having made me realize that was the direction I wanted to take with my Road Runner once I completed the restoration. Also, Bob K's Six Pack Bee stirred things up even more. Bob has offered suggestions on my combination without me even asking, truly one of the best guys out there.

I wanted to add two people to my list that started this thread. These are not the old school guys or our freinds north of the boarder. No these are younger guys that show so much enthusiasm and vigor for our venue. They tirelessly promote it to anyone who will listen and drag anyone who will come with them. They alway's find a way to make it happen. Even driving with a bent valve if need be. Plus they are infectuous to be around, the good kind of infectuous, not the kind that needs Benoitment. They virtually are always smiling and cheering others on.

    Added to my list are:
    Donny Brass
    Tom Miller

Thanks to everyone who others or myself have listed. You all have made these weekends cherished highlights of each year.

    Mark
