Did all 70 GS Stage 1's have disc brakes? :Do No:

For 69 and 70, definitely no. Manual drum brakes were standard. My 69 Stage 1 had power drum brakes before I converted it to discs. The GS 400/455 from 67-70 came with aluminum front drums. 67-69 Sportwagons also had the aluminum front drums.
In either 71 or 72, I believe they made discs a part of the Stage 1 package. Someone else may know for sure.

    Pat,
Was pretty sure discs were made standard at some point, just couldn't remember for sure whether it was just the Stage 1 cars or the 455 ones as well.
    I knew it wasn't 69 or 70.
What can I say, the memory is the first thing to go.......or at least I think so. :puzzled:

    Thanks,

All 71 and 72 big block GS cars came with disc brakes standard and they were an option on 70 cars. This much I know for sure. 69 GS cars came with drums standard but I'm not sure if discs were available for them.
