Could one of you guys with a '62 - '63 Wildcat with a floor shift automatic do me a huge favor? I have a '62 Electra Convertible that I am putting a center console and floor shifter from a '62 Wildcat. I'm having some trouble getting the shifter linkage set up. I suspect that the arm on the tailshaft of the transmission, that the shifter linkage attaches to, is shorter on a floor shift car vs a column shift car. There is not a 1:1 ratio between my shifter and the tail shaft lever and I can't get the full range of gears. I've been working on changing the pivot point on the shaft lever to get a greater range of motion. It's a little tricky with clearance issues and geometry. It doesn't appear the arms are interchangeable and the entire tailshaft would have to be swapped. The arm on my tailshaft is approximately 5 1/2 inches long. Could someone with a floor shift car measure theirs, it would be a great help.
I absolutely LOVE your car :TU: ! Nailhead and a four speed, it makes me cry just thinkin' about it  ! Is you motor stock? On a WOT run, what do you shift it at? Just curious. Oh ya, did I mention I LOVE your car?

I haven't had a chance to check my linkage to get answer for you, we've had a lot of problems keeping our tow trucks on the road. I'll check it out asap. I was thinking.... would you call the 62-64s the 1st generation of wildcats?
I would, for sure. There was a body change in 65, but the chassis and drive train pretty much didn't change. In 67, the Nailheads were replaced with 430s, and the 455 in 1970.
Wayne thanks for the help, I still having problem making the pics to thumbnails. the ones I want to add it said they were to big. But we will be gone til Friday My wife Sister called and said we could go to OceanShores at a cond on the ocean since the party canceled out. We need the time away to recoup after Xmas and New Years. We will talk later Gary:beers2:
Glad to help, Gary. If you're running Windows XP, go to the Microsoft website and search for picture resizing. They have one that's basic, but works very well. It's a free download.:TU: Addendum: A couple of links. http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

Have a 65 Wildcat convertible, looking for the right 64. Anyone have a 64 for sale with custom bucket seat interior? 4-speed and/or dual quad 425 would be OK too! :TU:
