It was nice to put name-to-face with several folks here on the board!!:TU: Wish we could have gotten there much earlier on Sat.

My brother and I pulled in from NY, around 4pm on Sat. We had to pick up a couple of items at Summit Racing, so we went there first. They have a really cool '63 Riv on the display turntable....right in the front window!! Really nice car....even with the LS1 engine.:Dou: :Brow:

Met Cole and his daughter up at the reg. tent. (the ID tags were a great idea)

Caught up with Adam(Smartin) and David Gramlow, while there was some down time in the staging lanes. Great guys to talk to!!

My brother and I got to talk with Sonny Seal for quite a while up in the stands on Sat. night. That was quite a treat!! Learned alot about what has worked for him on the 350" SBB engine....and what didn't.

Met Dave from TA over at the TA booth....my brother was asking him about some Nailhead parts, etc. Talked with Mike T. for a while. He's always friendly to talk to, just like every year!! Got to talk to Mike's Dad - great guy to shoot the breeze with!! Pretty neat hearing some of Mike's early 'exploits' from another source.:Brow: :TU:

I've had the pleasure of meeting several people from V8Buick.com over the last few years. Whether at the Salem event...or out in SoCal - I have yet to have a bad experience with anyone I've met from V8!!!:Smarty: :bglasses: :TU: It's been a real pleasure talking to everyone I've met so far!!!

Wish there was more time to have met many more of you!! Saw alot of 'familiar' cars out on the track.....JW in George's car....Beth in DaWagon....Yardley in the Riv....Doug H. in the '65....FloydsBuick in the light blue Regal....Rick M., Scotty G., Rob C. - all in their race cars....and MANY more!!

I met a really cool older gentelman name Marvin with a sweet maroon 67 GS 400. He was a pleasure to talk to, shared some good info with me, and told me it was great to see young people (I'm 32) still keeping this going. Thanks Marvin !!

We were only there for about 8 hours or so on Saturday. (with a 3 hour drive both ways, it was still along day for me, my wife, and our 4 year old) We walked around alot before the racing started, and I got to see alot of the cars I recognized from the board in person... but nobody was with their cars. It was neat seeing the cars, but it would have been better to meet more people.
I'm not outgoing enough to just go around introducing myself to people, unless I at least have a clue who they are (either by seeing them by their car, or seeing their nametags, or theres a few people who's pictures show up here alot.... like Yardley... and that poor poor sheep LOL :pp )

I talked to a guy for a while who was shining up the aluminum in the TA wagon, but didn't catch his name? I know it wasn't Mike by the pics I've seen here since then.

I stood by JW for a little while to introduce myself, but he was busy tinkering on the Sweezy(sp?) machine and talking to a few other people so I didn't want to bother him.

Then when the racing started, I couldn't pull myself away from the bleachers.

Allthough I would have liked to shake a few more hands, I still had a great time. Hopefully next year we'll be able to stay longer. This was a bad year, with us just moving and everything. And Salem was just close enough that we could make the trip there and back in one day. If it were further away, I'd have to commit to the whole weekend and camp there, or if it were really close, I could drive there everyday. :Brow:
Looks like I missed some great after hours fun too! I'm really looking forward to next year!

Adam, you went flying by us once in the pits. It looked like you were hanging on for your life off the back of a golf cart going about mach 2.
We really did almost "meet" LOL

If it was a younger guy, shorter than Mike - may have been Dave (BuickPower) from TA. If it was an older gentleman - could have been Mike's Dad.

Exact same problem I had. I kept waiting for him not to be swamped with visitors.....never happened, at least not while I was in the area. Jim's a busy enough guy. With all those guys had going on this past month, not meeting me isn't one of those things that will make him lose any sleep.

Until QCR gets better facilities (read: sinks with soap AND water), maybe we should come up with a better way to greet each other, than a handshake.:Brow:  It's all good I suppose.

Wish I could have met up with you too Rick.:TU:

Maybe those lanyard style nametags should be a mandatory option. Sure would help in the meet-n-greet department.

For me it's more like who didnt i get to meet, either from my own stupidity of not realizing at the the moment who they were or being pulled in a different direction and not ever making it back to the original path.

After being back on the board and seeing post of others that were there its like, dang i wished i would have met so and so.

Had a great time and did meet many cool people and will have to keep doing it every year until I meet all of you.

Dang Rick.. wish you would have interupted me... was looking forward to meeting you.

    I would not have minded..

That was the worst problem for me at the nats.. had lots of stuff to do, and with only being there for the weekend, I did not get as much of a chance to talk to folks as I would have liked to.

    Scott,

There was an outside sink at the restroom building, with soap and hot and cold running water. I washed my hands there several times after working on stuff.

But it did take me a day to find it... after a year or two we will know where everything is.

I feel the same way. So many people so little time. I agree with the name tag thing. I'm really bad at remembering names so it really helped out that way too.

I did get to met Gary Kubish sp? and his horse that he says is a dog. Also got to met Scotty "The Man" I think it was a little over wellming for Rod. He couldn't look Scotty in the face for a good half hour after he congratulated Rod on getting into the 7's. I think Rod was actually speechless for the first time

Mike's dad George is great. I loved hearing the stories of Mike when he was younger and getting into the cars. It was a blast hearing George get on Mike about driving his car.

Dave, Derek, Rich and the rest of the gang were a blast to hang out with into the wee hours of the night. The more canadian beer they had the more fun they were. Thanks again Derek for all the help on the rear end.

Well, the list goes on. Looking forward to next year!!
