Kevin- yes the 455 goes right in. Don't forget, the GS455 is a model built on the Skylark body. The headers were a tad tight, but aren't they always? A hammer took care of that, one dent and I was done. Making sure the starter and tranny coolant lines were sheilded from the heat was another thing, though. I feel like I'm taking over the thread, so any pic after this one, I'll put in a new topic, I promise.
This was just before I did a lot of work last spring, the glass filter was so I could see if there was a lot of crap in the fuel lines- I don't use it to drive the car with- they fail.
If you look really closely, you can see the dent in the header, where I've circled. The 455 fits like a glove, but with the HEI unit, I'm told, the clearance to the aircleaner bucket is too close, unless you use an aftermarket manifold. I can say that with my Edelbeock, it fits great, as shown. I have to cut down my foam seals, though. This is getting close to off topic, so maybe we should talk about all this in another thread.

    DropTop

Here is my drop top. 71 GS 455 STG1 clone. She has gone through a frame up, nut and bolt restification. Looks very stock, but thats deceiving. The 455 is heavily modified with all the goodies, including intake, modified Q-Jet, KB headers w/full 3" exhaust, TA cam, and head work. She also has a complete polygraphite suspension and sway bars to make her handle. Nothing beats a 455 for torque.

Is that Platinum Mist, Dave? Very nice. I nearly had mine painted that color. In my home town, there was an honest-to-God little old lady driving around in her '70 Stage 1 that was really nice, about 10 years ago, and it was Platinum Mist. Sharp color:TU:

    Re: color

I bet the two colors are so close nobody could tell. Anyway, it looks great! My car was originally Bamboo Cream- I understand about not liking the original color combo.

    Paul...

NICE color.:Brow: I like the wheels, also. Care to have your car put in the Buick Parts Driectory's "Rides" section? Shoot me an email at adamm@buickpartsdirectory.com and include a short (or long) description of the car, how you got it, what future plans are, etc...if you like. My motherboard just puked, so I'll be a couple days before I can get the page updated.

71 Skylark convertible currently Stratomist blue with white top and black bench seat interior. 350/2 and auto. I am working on getting a 455 and turbo 400. Also have a complete power window setup i'll be installing soon. This car was originally Cortez Gold with black top and since the current paint job is not very good i'm considering going back to Gold. I'll try to post photos in the near future.
