I am getting ready to order a full interior for my '66 project, in two tone blue, with door panels and carpet. Who has the best quality stuff? Legendary is cheaper for seatcovers, but higher on door panels and seat foam. I can mix and match, but want the best I can afford. How about carpet color? Medium or dark blue? Has anyone had bad experience with OPG or Year One on interior parts, or do they buy from the same source? Thanks, Dan
Legendary is the supplier for both. Just got new door panels from Year One today, for a 70 GS. look really great. JOE
i used Legendary for my interior on my '68 GS350. The door panels are simply beautiful. other items included, bucket seat covers, seat foam, headliner and package tray. I am very satisfied.
Legendary is the clear winner! Did my buddy's '69 GS400 vert and looks great. Waiting for warm weather to do mine, too.
Legendary is the manufacturer for many, if not all, of the vendors. Great Quality! PUI is another manuf, but I don't know if they repo '66 GS items. Your best bet is to compare prices, shipping $$, whether it is in stock, then ask if they are made by Legendary. If the seat covers are out of stock, it could take 8 weeks to get a set made! Seat foam. Fit is your primary concern. Ask Legendary what they recommend, and go with it. Amesperf.com (GTO's) often has a brief review of fit/quality of the items they sell... They recommend and sell foams from American Cushion Industries for their superior quality and fit (for GTO covers!), even tho they cost more. Seat springs avail too. Get a catalog! Carpet. Go with ACC brand. Visit their site for info www.accmats.com But but it from somewhere else! You'll save ALOT. Many vendors carry their stuff, including Legendary. www.ss396.com has a set for $119. It was ACC brand 2 years ago, again, call and ask them. And oh yeah, get their catalog too! Color....I'm not sure what to tell you. Buick only had 1 blue in '66. It could be medium or dark. See the ACC site for samples. My original set had a ID tag on the underside....I think it said drk blue, but I haven't seen the tag for years! Underlayment....if you want the correct paper-covered tar stuff, Ames has it. Many 'repos' are just rubber. Do you still have the same e-mail Dan? and can it handle large files, like pics?
hello dan, i just purchased a set for my 70 gs, from year one, they get most of their stuff from legendary, if you want i have a coupon for 10 percent off online orders that is good from feb 2-4, send me your fax number. The only other thing is some of their stuff might be out of stock, so you will have to wait. You can compare prices for year one and legendary by going online, hope all is well, ajesh
I had heard that Legendary is the best, and can attest to their quality, having seen their display at the Nats. I guess the thing to do is shop the different vendors to see who's giving the best price. I have a feeling Legendary gives them a great price, and won't "undercut" their larger customers by offering their own stuff cheaper to the direct customer. Walt, I will pm you.... Ajesh, I need to do some window shopping this weekend....My Year One catalogue is a year old, and I have heard they can really ream you on shipping. Either way, my work fax is 501-221-1653. Thanks, Dan
We are a PUI dealer. We have been working with them the past year in manufacturing and quality control. Especially on the 68,70-72 interiors. PUI manufactures interiors for 1964 through 1972 Skylarks / GSs. We will be adding this info to the Then and Now website as time goes by. But if you need a price quote send us an email or give us a call. We are also a Legendary dealer. We will be glad to quote a price on their interiors too. Thanks for your time. David
Legendary................ I ordered my front "complete" and rear pannels in September for my 69 GS 350. All I can say is these better be the best on the planet! I still have not received them! That's right 4 months! Since the day I placed my order they have had on there web site "Complete Pannels" available now! Not true! After waiting two months I was told that the hold up was in the metel rail they get to make the front units complete (so you don't have to use your old ones). I was told any day now so I agreed to wait. I should have just told them to ship them as is! Last month I was told by January 8th? I asked for a discount for the two month delay I was told no but they would send a coupon for my next order? That never came and now I have been told January 29th? I am not holding my breath! If I seem a little ticked I had made it clear the car was in a shop being redone. I would have to pay to keep it there waiting for these pieces if the rest of the car was done! I live in Bufflo NY where it snows! And did not want to move it in SNOW! Mark
I just got my 70 gs door panels head liner and sail panels from PUI. I can tell you they are spot on. I can also tell you that you couldn't find a better guy to work with than Dave Walker at Then and Now. Best of luck with whoever you choose. Eric Gardner
hello dan, the sale for year one is on the superbowl weekend , from feb 2,3,4,07, its an internet only the sale code is SB07 and the website, is www.yearone.com, you can speak with a sales person, but to get the discount you will have to go online. Also their catalog is online as well, email me if you need anything.
also, legendary and IPUI supply year one in case if you were wondering where they are getting their supplies from
Thanks Ajesh, I don't know how PUI is for '66 stuff, especially important as it is two tonwe with plastic strip inserts. Legendary does sell the carpet inserts for the kick panels, and I expect the carpet would match the door panels.....I will get some quotes. The color of carpet is also an issue, because Buick used only one blue (dark) in '66 Skylarks, and the vendors all require you to make a choice between light medium and dark blue, as if they don't know which color is correct. I'd like to send them a sample to match, but this car was a color change with mexican interior. It is going back to correct white with blue interior. Dan
Will let you know as soon as it comes in. I ordered my 72 Deluxe interior form Poston. After ordring and talking ot them theirs is also made by Legendary, and their price is less than if you order it directly from Legenday.
I Received my upholstery today from Poston. It is legenary and the quality is excellent. The price was cheaper than ordering it direct from Legendary. I paid 335.00 plus shipping for front split bench with armrest and rear seat, it is the deluxe interior. Very pleased.
Well this is Febuary 23 and my black 69 GS door pannels F/B are still not here. I placed this order with Legindary in September 2006. I paid $750 at that time for complete pannels. It took them until December to tell me they needed rails. Now they tell me felts? When I lost it with them on the phone about giving me something for this mess off the order they sent me a $50 coupon for my next order? I told them "Next Order" I still don't have my last Order! I don't get it? I live in Buffalo NY not far from them. It is not the first time I have used their stuff but the first time I ordered right from them???? I don't know what else to say. Mark
