Another from the "littlest things take the most work" department - Installed a new mechanical oil pressure gauge and ran the (plastic) line to the square-plugged port on the top rear (near the throttle bracket) of my 350 - ran the car for 5 minutes but no oil flow from the port.. The factory sender unit lights on startup as it should and there's no oil flow problem throughout the block.. Any thoughts :Do No: ?

Because that is a vacuum port, not an oil pressure point. The oil pressure switch is located above the oil filter on the block. You can connect your gauge there. You can buy a brass fitting that allows operation of the idiot light, and gauge, if you like. BTW, you might want to use copper tubing instead of the nylon tubing. It gets brittle with age, and is an accident waiting to happen.

I just put my oil line (copper 1/8 th inch tubing) in my car today.Do yourself a huge favor and listen to Larry.I bought mine at NAPA for 49 cents a foot and I got 10 foot.I get a discount and the price over the counter was 99 cents a ft.If you know someone with a garage, they should be able to get you a better price.

I've got the copper line already - just installed the plastic line so i could be sure the oil flowed from that port - Guess I'm still thinking like a Mopar guy - Big blocks have their auxiiary oil port in just about that same spot. I replaced the oil sender a few days ago when I did the oil change. Guess I'll swap out the oil gauge for a vacuum gauge in the meantime.
