I haVE GOTTEN MY WILDCAT RUNNING AFTER FOUR YEARS,BUT several friends are telling me that I am going to burn the coil up since I have no balast resistor. I have the main battery feed going to the starter,a wire coming off one side of the solenoid to the nuetral safety switch and another from the other post on the solenoid to the coil so the coil is running 12v continuously. This is the way the car was setup when I bought it. Anyone have any answers for me? Is it wired right or am I going to burn up the coil?

The wire to the coil SHOULD be a resistance wire fed by the ignition switch, so there is no visible ballast resistor like most folks look for. Get an ohmeter and read the resistance from the coil feed wire back to the ignition switch run position. When the key is turned to "Start"Rthe wire is bypassed so the coil gets a full 12 volts, whe it returns to "run" the resistance cuts in.
