If anyone gets the reserve price , please post it here. Thinking of selling mine, this year. Custom G s Convt, Body # 31. Seems to be first day production. Jim Schlf palbuick@aol.com
Bidding's already too high for me...I'm guessing the reserve is set at about 40K Nice looking car except the front end is about 7 inches too high. Other than that, nice work...just for S&G's I asked for underbody pics and the reserve. Didn't get either yet. Steve
some questions It has a vin # of a standard Wildcat Conv yet it has a Wildcat Custom Interior, also it has power vent windows which where not available on Wildcat. The trunk is also done incorrectly with wrong material and a spare tire cover that is not correct. Wonder if the custom interior and power vent windows are added at restoration, and then also you wonder if it is a true GS if these items are added.
no place to order Looking over extensive 66 literature and order information(including original 1966 order forms) ther is no place that gives this option to the Wildcat, but it does show up for Electra. On the original order forms there is not a place to order this option on Wildcat. Not buying that this is correct!
seen it I have seen that picture, but you still have to be able to order them, and there just isn't any place to order them on an order form. I have a,so checked with a couple other 66 Buick guys and they agree, wildcats just didn't have them. Anybody else out there have an original Wilcat with power vent windows?
OK, 65 had them Ok, 65 had them, I don;t have the material to research the 65's on 66 & 67, the number of things that are turning up on the Wilcat GS that are incorrect hardly makes it a good one to compair to. Still, if they where available how where they ordrered if not on the order forms?
I have an order form for the Gran Sport Skylark and it does not have the High Performance Engine Option (A9) listed, these forms changed constantly but why would anyone do a gound up restore with that low of milage?
I don't trust these ebay auctions for something like this... A super collector car (with several notable variations), with the price running up two days left to go. I always wonder who's bidding and whether they're related to the seller. Buyer beware.
Hi Mike-- I agree with you. I recently bought a set of rare 4 bolt exhaust manifolds for my Chrysler 300B (turns the 354 hemi into 355 HP, the first HP per Cu. inch greater than one); I suspected a shill bidder during the auction but I needed the manifolds and they weren't that far "out of market". To test my theory, I contacted the next highest bidder after the auction (only a few dollars under me) and asked him if he'd would be interested in the manifolds at the final price if I decided I didn't need them. He didn't respond to my email! Would this be a friend of the seller perhaps? I think the answer is obvious. Also, see my post above. I had one of these cars in quite poor original (never restored) condition when I bought it, and I believe they'd be an easy one to clone. Dan
I know if I were in the market for a collector car going for this kind of money I would want to see the car in person and drive it. Whether it's correct or not, It is a gorgeous car!
Sorry Mike, my post about cloning was in the other 66 Wildcat thread: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37124&highlight=1966+wildcat Dan
65 Grand The current owner/seller contacted me to answer some questions. First reserve (drum roll please) $65,000, yes you read right. He does not have any documentation on the car, he says that the restorer passed away and they have no records of what was done or any details. this car = to many ?????????????
The seller wants more money than any of these have probably ever sold for, the car has serious "correctness" issues and he has NO documentation. I want what he is smokin cause it is way better than anything I have ever had Not in this game anymore. Larry
Re: 65 Grand If you want to serve some truth serum, ask him for the name of the restorer, his last known address, and any other identifying info. Tell them you want to see if you can locate someone that might have worked with him on the car. If they refuse to provide that info, I would view that as a sign they are worried want might turn up that would adversely impact their auction even if true.
